I often ship by Media Mail and I am always surprise when I receive emails stating the package did not arrive in a few days---so many people are truly unaware of Media Mail. If you choose it, it can take rather long, especially if you live on the east coast, NE, or NW part of the US as Media Mail TRAVELS ONLY BY GROUND VEHICLE. It is the slowest type of mail offered but the least expensive. So if you are not in a hurry to received your package, it is the way to go. You may always upgrade mail delivery---just ask.
Another great misconception is Delivery Confirmation. I am often asked what the confirmation number is of an item I have mailed. There is no confirmation number UNLESS YOU PURCHASE DELIVERY CONFIIRMATION. Ask if you desire to have delivery confirmation as that is the only way to have a confirmation number. |
My father was on eaby selling items for seven years and I have also experienced what he warned me about. Most all of his bad feedbacks was from buyers who did not receive what they purchased through the mail--and most of these items were for small amounts of money---usually always under $20.00. He and I have always offered the buyer the postal receipt which shows the zip code the item was mailed to and the date. So, if you buy an item that has about a pound weight and I mailed it promptly after payment, the postal receipt will reflect that weight and the date after payment was made. What more proof of mailing can a person want? Most people do not accept our offers to have the postal receipt, they just file a complaint with ebay and pay pal to get their money back from me---they don't care that I did uphold my part of the bargin and can provide proof in the form of the postal receipt but that isn't good enough. WHY??? Because ebay doesn't care about the seller in this type of situation. Unless delivery confirmation is purchased on that item at the time of mailing, ebay will not accept the postal receipt as proof------regardless. The postal people tell me "it is proof", but to ebay is isn't and because of that, people who don't receive their package want their money back. They could care less about me trying to make an honest living. If I am a customer and this happens to me and I can get that postal receipt, that is all the proof I need----no hard feelings; but most people are very obnoxious about this and will in effect, be a tad dishonest about this by wanting their money back. They feel a seller on ebay has the capital of a large discount store like Wal Mart where returns are met with a smile and refunds are part of doing business. I MENTIONED THIS BECAUSE ABOUT ONE IN EVERY FOUR HUNDRED PACKAGES MAILED BY MEDIA MAIL DOES NOT REACH IT'S DESTINATION------Yes, it is kind of like baggage in airports and the employees who take them.
