I am a Certified Optician and the 4th generation in the Optical industry. My Great Grandfather and Grandfather were both Eye Doctors, My father (ret.), wife and myself are ABO Certified Opticians. Our optical shop was established in 1950 after my father bought out the American Optical, A/O, operated shop in East St. Louis, IL. Before that my father worked for Bausch & Lomb, B&L, in St. Louis, MO. We are family owned and operated. My wife now runs the retail shop located in a busy 3 doctor practice. I am now selling safety eyewear to local and national companies as well as working in the optical lab making and repairing eyeglasses, and when I have time listing items on Ebay.

Vintage Eyeglasses are a Hobby for me and Buying and Selling both Feeds and Pays for that hobby. I have a nice collection of frames, equipment and displays, enough to equip 2 shops. One just from the original 1950's shop, Everything American Optical from when my dad first opened. Collecting started early when I would go through the boxes at the shop and find neat stuff. Even though I have probably been through everything, I am still finding boxes with treasures. These boxes and some items from my collection are what I sell here on Ebay. Most of the Vintage frames I sell are "NOS" New Old Stock, or in Excellent Condition. I Clean, Inspect and I try to describe their Condition the Best I can. These Frames Really Do Come Out of an Old Optical Shop.

I have been buying, selling, and working on Vintage Frames for over 35 years. When I started in the shop they were still very common and some still being made. I grew up making and repairing them and learned from the old Pro's. We still have the old tools and equipment for working on these frames and I still use them on the vintage frames. Replacement parts are the hard part, they stopped making them long ago also. Any help on sources??

Since S.A.F.B. is located just outside of town and they have a large 4 story medical building right across the street, we always have a good stock of current and past styles of military eyeglasses and sunglasses. Also with the base and many military retirees in the area, we are always acquiring nice used pairs all the time.

Even though I grew up around eyeglasses I am NOT an Expert. I get many questions about models, what years made, what someone wears or the history of something and I can't answer them. I have never studied the history of certain brands or styles, I just worked and sold them. If anybody has good Links and wants to share, let me know and I will post the good ones on this page, Thanks.

All Vintage Eyeglass Frames or Sunglasses I have for Sale Will be Listed on Ebay. Due to lack of space there is no room for them at the retail shop and the lab is not set up for visitors to stop by. If you want to see what I have dug up, check my listing. Unsold items will be relisted.

We no longer Carry or Repair Vintage frames at the retail shop due to lack of space and the fact that I am not there (I'm at the lab). Frames can be fitted there but repairs will have to be dropped off. If you need to drop something off or pick something up, or if you are looking for Current Designer Eyewear the shop is open 9-5, Monday-Friday.  We Are Not a Discount Optical Shop, We Sell High Quality Frames and Lenses at a Reasonable Price.

I can install RX Single Vision Lens in Most (but not all) Eyeglass or Sunglass Frames I List. The cost is $80 for scratch resistant plastic or $100 for Polycarbonate, Tints or other Coating Extra. Non-RX,  Clear Plastic lenses cost $30. Due to measurements that have to be taken in person, I can not do Bifocals or Progressives (unless you are from the Belleville, IL. area). ALSO, I will NOT REFUND the Cost of Lenses if you do not like the frame, that is not fair to me. I Recommend trying the frame on first to be sure of fit and that you like them. I Also Recommend having your Lenses installed by a trusted optician that knows to use low heat to install lenses and adjust. This will give you the best possible fit.     

Please Do Not email and ask for the Prescription of the lenses in vintage or used eyeglasses. The chance they are the same as yours or less than 20,000 to 1. In over 30 years I have not been able to match my own!
