| BODY PIERCING AFTERCARE: |
| Do's and Don'ts |
- Do check threaded jewelry daily to make sure it is on tight.
- Do wash your hands with soap before touching or cleaning the pierced part during the healing process.
- Do be conscious of your clothes they should be clean and they should not be putting any pressure on your new piercing.
- Do be wary of your health. Avoid drug usage, get plenty of sleep and take vitamin supplements (Vitamin C, Zinc and Iron are all good).
- Do use a waterproof bandage, such as Tegaderm, if you must subject your piercing to getting wet.
- Do feel free to use ice or Ibuprofen to help alleviate swelling and pain.
- Do avoid over cleaning. This can delay your healing and irritate your piercing.
- Do avoid contact with others bodily fluids near your piercing until it is fully healed.
- Do dry the piercing with paper products. Cloth towels can harbor bacteria.
- Do carry a clean spare ball in case of loss or breakage.
- Don't swim. Public pools, jacuzzi's, lakes, oceans etc. are all breeding grounds for bad things.
- Don't play with it, or ever, touch it with unwashed hands.
- Don’t let anyone else touch the pierced part during the healing period.
- Don't rotate your jewelry while cleaning it or otherwise!
- Don't have unprotected sex with a fresh genital piercing, not even in a monogamous relationship.
- Don't skip a day because you are too tired, too busy, or because you "forget." Aftercare is literally preventative care.
- Don't use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean the piercing area at any time. They will dry out your skin.
- Don't use antibacterial ointments. They are difficult to clean out of a piercing and may trap bacteria once the antibacterial action wears off.
- Don’t hang charms or any object from your jewelry until the piercing is fully healed.
- Don't engage in rough activity that may threaten your piercing.
- Don't sleep on your new piercing. This cause irritation and prolong the healing process.

| Pregnancy
There are several options available to keep your navel piercing once you become pregnant. You can usually keep your original ring in the piercing till about the sixth month of the pregnancy. At this stage the expansion of the skin means that you will have to either take the ring out, replace it with a larger one.
Body Jewelry Insertion Tips
- Wash both your hands and the piercing with antibacterial soap (3-5 minutes)
- Pinch the skin adjacent to the piercing and insert one end of the body jewelry into one hole of the piercing
- While inserting the body jewelry, massage the opposite hole with a finger from the hand that was originally pinching
- Continue inserting and massaging until you feel the body jewelry exiting the piercing
- Stop massaging and gently finish inserting the body jewelry
- Either screw on or clip in your accessory
- If you have a captive accessory, place one groove on one side of the ring and push the accessory toward the ring while pushing the ring toward the accessory
- Once your accessory is screwed on or snapped in, clean your body jewelry one more time to reduce chances for infection
Additional Notes:
- Remember, your body is sensitive! So please be gentle during the entire procedure.
- A hot shower or hot compress will help soften your skin before cleaning and inserting body jewelry.
- And at the end of it, if all this seems too much for you to handle, pay a professional to do it and make life easier for yourself.
Jewelry Cleaning Instruction for new piercings.
- Rotate the piercing jewelry so that the ball from the barbell rests on your skin.
- Using anti-bacterial soap (NO ALCOHOL OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE), lather your jewelry, scrubbing it between your fingers.
- Rinse very well with hot / warm water before spinning the piercing back into your body.
- Be gentle, remember it is still a new wound.
- After lathering one side and thoroughly rinsing it, spin the ball to the other direction and do the same thing with the anti-bacterial soap.
- Rinse thoroughly.
Jewelry Cleaning Instruction for existing piercings.
- Remove your body jewelry slowly and make sure you do not misplace the ball!
- Using anti-bacterial soap (NO ALCOHOL OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE), lather your jewelry, scrubbing it between your fingers.
- Rinse very well with hot / warm water Unscrew the ball to the left (do this step one ball at a time).
- Rinse the ball thoroughly with hot or warm water, and anti-bacterial soap.
- Place the ball in a safe place and clean the threaded area of your piercing post in the same manner.
- You will likely find small pieces of the healing crust as well as dead skin cells, etc on the post and ball before cleaning them. Thus, we clean.
