Thanks to everyone who voted for me in the 2008 Artist Choice Awards. I'm honored to have won 2nd place in the "Folk" category. Congratulations to "Gritty Jane" for winning first place!



I have been painting since 1979.  Although I began with oils, I switched to acrylics and soon after began teaching.  Painting quaint villages and old, interesting buildings became my specialty.
My husband, Rick and I, live in an old Dutch Colonial that we've lovingly worked on for the past five years.  The home was in excellent shape when we bought it, but of course, I had to add my touches with my paint brushes!  I've painted a faux marble fireplace on the living room wall and a Trompe L'oeil rug and slippers on the bedroom floor. 

My brush is itching to start up on another room soon.
Our grown children live in Excelsior Springs as well. My paintings sometimes include depictions of my family, as well as some of our pets.
I've also painted murals for some of the local shops and in private homes.  Designing has led to teaching at national conventions, exhibiting at trade shows, and traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada to teach my style of painting to others.  I am the author of four instructional decorative painting books and a video.  I've also been a contributor to several decorative painting magazines and had my work featured in wall decor magaines. I now sell prints of my paintings on eBay. Each print comes with a little story. "German Apple Cake"

1 1/2 Cup Oil
2 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
3 Cups flour
4 Cups sliced apples
1 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon soda
1 Teaspoon salt
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup chopped pecans.
Mix together all ingredients except apples. Blend in apples. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour in an ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Recipe can be halved and baked in an 8 x 8 pan in case it's just you and your hubby!

The beauty of autumn has arrived at Widow's Cove where lighthouse keeper, Mel and his wife Molly reside. The leaves fall from the trees creating a tapestry of color on the ground and in the water. Molly is fixing a thermos of coffee and warm apple cake to take to her husband as he makes his nightly rounds at the lighthouse.
