I wanted you to meet a very special person in my life, Lacy. I am fortunate that she has been in my life for 16 years and I am proud to call her my daughter. OK so she’s my stepdaughter, but here at the locoCabana we don’t differentiate that kind of thing.
Lacy has always been, what doctors and other people consider handicapped. She’s always been able to communicate, although she can only say a few words. I have always known she’s a very bright soul trapped in an uncooperative body. About a year ago she suffered a fall that had her in ICU on a ventilator paralyzed from the neck down .
She is now home with her Mother in Utah. During this past year she has managed to regain some movement, which has amazed her doctors. Even though she will never walk again, Lacy is a very happy person. I have noticed that God gives an enchanted spirit to the handicapped.
Lacy enjoys her pink wheelchair, but is unable to travel to her favorite place, the grocery store. Her Mother has a van and is in need of a lift. There is a lovely place that will giver her one, but in 2010! Ohhhhhh they say she can have one now IF a “nominal” fee is paid. I don’t really understand it, but if that’ll get her out of the apartment and give her the joy seeing her friends at the grocery store I’ll give it a shot! Heck if I had the money I’d gladly give it now, but I don’t…
