Since becoming an avid collector a few years ago, I learned very quickly that we have an abundace of all things here in the United States. Not only is there truly "something" for everyone but definitly no shortage. With a little curiosity, dedication, and perserverence you can start and develop a first rate collection. For some it might be books, stamps, or coins. For others its pottery, various types of glass, furniture, stuffed animals, antique kitchen gadgets, or even beanie babies!
A Bygone Era
Among my varied interests, I have a fondness for vintage Silver/Silverplate mainly American, particularly from the 1890's, beginning part of the 20th century and up through the Great Depression. Makers include 1847ROGERS, WALLACE, GORHAM, REED & BARTON and HOMLES & EDWARDS. From the intricate patterns on much of the flatware I can't help but think, "They just don't make them like they used to". Many are works of art with their elaborte chasing, borders and scrollworks of fruit, vines, flowers and even dolphins. Today we heap much attention on the food and rightfully so. Our taste buds have expanded as well as the shelves at the supermarket. In the old days, as much attention if not more was put on "how you dined", and believe you me there is a fork, spoon, and dish for everything! Think of Molly Brown in TITANIC..."just start from the outside and work your way in!" Sitting down to the table of yesteryear was something to look forward to. Meals were events, social occasions lasting several hours.
While I do not discriminate between Sterling or Silverplate, I do have a discerning eye when it comes to the condition of each piece. I choose items that have minimal to no wear unless otherwise stated in it's discription. Everything is polished to its lustrous, gleaming glory and ready to use or display.

Along with the above mentioned I have always collected what I like. Quite simply, whatever catches my eye and this is more often than not. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area our proverbial "cup runneth over " with all sorts of unique, odd, fun and interesting finds and from time to time you can find some of them here. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, I will always try and answer them to the best of my knowledge.
