Welcome
Welcome to the Northeast. I live in Ballston Spa, NY and think it's one of the nicest places on earth. I'm very active in the community and believe that making our communities better is a responsibility and a wonderful legacy for our future generations.Where My Ebay Name Came From
Lots of people ask me where my ebay name came from, Pook was the name of my cat, who has passed away. Pook will be missed and I will think of him and smile each time I see my on-line name. I've been blessed by the love of many animals, both cats and dogs, who have shared my life, and someday will have another dog or cat.My Collections
I've been collecting Care Bear items for many years, have a great collection and am still adding to it. In the past few years due to new releases of Care Bears items, the room has gone out of control!!! It overfills what used to be my guest room and I have to empty it before a guest can stay there!!!
I also collect Erich Stauffer figurines from the 50's. They're like Hummels, only made in Japan, and can be much harder to find!! I have a nice collection and am always on the lookout for a new piece. If you know of any other Erich Stauffer collectors, I would love to exchange information with them.
One of my most beautiful collections is a violin bottle collection. These elegant and colorful glass violin bottles decorate a wall in my home and create a "symphony of color" (Thank you, Frank Bartlett, for the great decription). I am a charter member of the Violin Bottle Collectors Association. This organization is composed of members around the world and I've met some wonderful people through the VBCA. Sunday afternoons from February to November will find the television tuned to the NASCAR race. We've been race fans for years. My favorite driver is Jeff Gordon, with Michael Waltrip coming in a close second. My office is covered with Jeff Gordon pictures, cars and posters, with quite a few Waltrip (including Darrell) items. My husband calls it a shrine. LOL
As you can tell, I was born with the collecting gene. I've been collecting something all my life and my first collection was paper dolls at about age 5. Someday I may start looking for some of my favorite paper dolls from my childhood. Maybe when I get a bigger house!! LOL
My Home Town
As I said earlier I live in Ballston Spa, NY. Ballston Spa is located about 30 minutes north of Albany. It's very scenic and peaceful in our area and bright lights are only a short drive away. It's a great village and it's motto says it all "A Village of Friends". It's a great place to live, work and play.
Unsung Heroes
Volunteers are unsung heroes. Thank you to all the volunteers who give of themselves so freely to help our not for profits, museums, foundations, civic groups, and our volunteer fire and emergency companies to enrich and protect all our lives. If you're not doing volunteer work, I urge you to get involved in your community and lend a helping hand. Working together is how the world can become a better place and an hour a week can make a difference. I know it's been said a million times, but you really do get back more than you give. Making a difference enrichs your life also.
