Product Questions  
Question: What is the quality of "factory-refurbished" or “reconditioned” or “recertified” merchandise?

Answer: Various manufacturers use these slightly different terms, but any item listed on our site as "refurbished" or "factory serviced" meets the same factory refurbished standards listed. Factory-refurbished merchandise refers to products that have been returned to the manufacturer for any of a number of reasons.

• Anytime a retail store or consumer opens a product in a box and it is not purchased, it cannot be sold as new. The item is then shipped back to the manufacturer to be "reconditioned."
• An item purchased by a consumer and returned for any reason--perhaps the product didn’t work or the consumer simply didn’t want it--whether it's the very next day or a month later, is sent back to the manufacturer to be "reconditioned."
• Some items, called "scratch and dents" have been returned to the manufacturer with visible wear and tear. PotatoPC makes every effort to ensure that our "factory reconditioned" merchandise does not include "scratch and dents."

Question: How does a manufacturer recondition products?

Answer: Some merchandise may have been used for a very short period of time, some have not been used, but rest assured that all factory-refurbished products have gone through two, or even three, quality checks to ensure that they are as good as new.

Once the item is returned to the manufacturer, the entire item is completely checked to assure it meets all factory specs, and then is quality tested yet again. Each manufacturer has its own procedures; items that didn’t work are repaired, items that were returned after minimal use are cleaned and sanitized, items that were opened may be repackaged. All items are returned to like-new condition.
Question: Why do factory-refurbished products come in different packaging?

Answer: Manufacturers are required by law, to state on the packaging that an item has been factory refurbished. Packaging and terminology may differ slightly with each manufacturer. Some items will arrive in a regular retail box with a sticker indicating that it has been reconditioned, refurbished, or factory serviced. Some items may be repackaged in a plain brown box or a white box. Enclosed manuals may refer to accessories (e.g., camera cases or straps) that are not included with the refurbished product.
Question: What makes a factory-refurbished item such an excellent purchase?

Answer: Factory refurbished means high quality. In fact, factory-refurbished goods have a very low return rate (2%) because they have been checked at least twice for proper working condition and quality. The price you pay for a factory-refurbished item is much lower than at retail.
Question: What are OEM products?

Answer: OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) signifies that the particular version of that product does not come with a retail box. Installation instructions are typically loaded on a disk or CD rather than in a printed manual, although, depending on the manufacturer, you may receive a printed manual as well. OEM software products are generally required to be sold or bundled with hardware - Hard Drives, CPUs, etc. OEM does NOT mean an item is recycled or refurbished. We encourage you to contact the product manufacturer if you have any further questions or concerns regarding OEM products.
Payment Questions  
Question: What credit cards does PotatoPC accept?

Answer: PotatoPC accepts United States bank issued Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards. PayPal, Bidpay payments, Western Union and Money Orders are also accepted at our secure checkout site.
Question: If I want to make a Paypal Payment, what are the restrictions?

Answer: Yes. After the completion of our convenient checkout process, you can print the order confirmation screen that will contain all pertinent credit card charge information. PotatoPC also sends this same information to you automatically, via e-mail.
Question: Can I get a printed receipt for my credit card payment?

Question: What if I don't agree with the billing charges?

Answer: Our checkout system has been thoroughly tested to charge the exact amount stated during the checkout process. If you believe we have charged you the wrong amount, please double-check the auction close data and our order confirmation data. Question: When is my credit card charged?

Answer: Your credit card is charged immediately upon completion of the checkout process. Sophisticated systems are set up to immediately send your order to our shipping department, to be shipped out by the end of the following business day.

Question: What do you consider my billing address?

Answer: Your billing address is the same address information on file with your credit card company. When entering this information during the checkout process it is important that you enter this information exactly as it appears on your credit card statement. If the information is not accurate, your card may be declined.

Question: What if my credit card is declined?

Answer: If there is a problem processing your card for any reason you will be notified immediately via email. Depending on the nature of the problem you may be prompted to try a different card.
Question: I purchased a few items from you during the same timeframe. Can you ship them together?

Answer: Currently we are unable to accommodate this request. We have multiple processing facilities and items may be shipped from different locations. Unfortunately, this means that we must ship items individually.
Question: How long does it generally take to process an order?

Answer: It takes one to two business days for us to process an order (prior to shipping it). Once the order has shipped, your estimated time of arrival will be determined by your selected shipping method and your local FedEx guidelines for delivery. PotatoPC offers Rush Processing for orders placed before 12PM PST for a small additional fee. PotatoPC will put forth its best efforts, however, we cannot guarantee that your order will ship the same day. If we fail to ship your order on the same day, we will refund the Rush Processing fee.
Question: May I combine two separate orders to save on shipping costs?

Answer: We do not combine orders for you over the phone. However, if you call us before your orders are processed, we can cancel your orders so you can place a single order for all the items you want. Please understand that we cannot cancel an order once it has been scanned by our warehouse.
Question: Do you charge sales tax?

Answer: No, PotatoPC is currently resident in the state of Oregon. Currently there is no state sales tax at this time.
Question: Can I cancel an order?

Answer: Orders cannot be cancelled once the checkout process has been completed. Due to our commitment to process orders quickly, once the checkout process is completed our warehouse is immediately notified to pick and pack the order for shipment. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Question: Is the PotatoPC website secure, and are credit card transactions on PotatoPC safe?

Answer: Absolutely! Security is a top priority at PotatoPC. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. In fact, it's statistically safer to use your credit card over the Internet than in a restaurant or department store. PotatoPC servers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an encryption technology that works with Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and AOL's browser, so that only PotatoPC can read a customer's personal information. Access to all of our users' information is restricted.

All employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy and of what they can do to ensure that our customers' information remains protected.

Question: Does PotatoPC sell or release my personal information?

Answer: PotatoPC respects your privacy. We will not under any circumstances sell or release your information to anyone without your consent. Please see our Privacy Policy for additional details.
Shipping Questions  
Question: Does PotatoPC deliver to APO or FPO addresses?

Answer: Yes, we deliver to APO/FPO addresses. There may be additional shipping costs to do this. APO/FPO orders are shipped by the United States Postal Service and usually take one to two business days to process and, once shipped, five to ten working days to deliver. However, PotatoPC cannot control delivery time. Some APO/FPO orders may require 6-8 weeks of lead time.
Question: Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico?

Answer: Yes, we deliver to Alaska and Hawaii. The shipping cost may be higher than domestic mail.
Question: Can you ship outside the United States?

Answer: Yes we can, with the proper payment type we can do that for you. Please note, the shipping cost would be higher than the domestic shipping cost.
Question: Do you offer premium delivery service?

Answer: Yes. For those occasions when you need something in a hurry, we offer premium next day and 2nd day air service for select products for an additional charge.
Question: How long will it take for my item to reach me? (How long is order processing and delivery?)

Answer: Packages are shipped in the order received and as quickly and humanly possible (usually within 24- 48 hours after checkout is completed). If a problem arises PotatoPC makes every effort make contact with customers to inform of a given situation and offer options. Usually our abilities our limited to email. Standard shipping is ground delivery, which typically takes between 7 to 10 days to arrive. We send an e-mail with the tracking number so you can check the progress of your delivery at the carrier's web site.
Question: How long is the waiting period before I am able to file a claim for a lost, damaged, misdelivered or tampered package?

Answer: If your order was damaged, mis-delivered or tampered with while in transit, please contact Customer Service within 3 business days of delivery. If your order was lost while in transit, please contact Customer Service within 7 business days of not receiving your order.
Question: How do I ship items to a different address

Answer: It's simple! During our checkout process, specify where you want your purchase shipped. It can be different from your credit card billing address. You may specify any ship-to street address within the United States.
Question: What should I do if my shipment never arrived?

Answer: Please allow up to 10 business days for your item to be delivered. If it still has not arrived, please email our customer service department at ebay@potatopc.com.
All sales come with PotatoPCs' 30-day warranty unless advertised differently. If the item you have ordered is defective, contact us within the warranty period and we will replace the defective item for you with an item of equal functionality. In the event that a suitable replacement is not available, a refund (including shipping) will be issued in the form of the original payment method or a company check. Specific terms are:
  1. For replacement, merchandise must be returned within 30 days of receipt and in the original packaging with the RMA number on the outside of the box and accompanied with packing slip. Boxes returned without an RMA number on the outside of the box will be REFUSED.
  2. Returned items must not have any signs of abuse or damage including but not limited to scratches and light wear and tear. We carefully inspect returned items upon receipt before issuing refunds, credits, or exchanges.
  3. Merchandise should be carefully packed and insured for the full purchase price and shipped via traceable means. PotatoPC is not responsible for damage incurred when the items are shipped back and reserves the right to void the RMA at the customers expense.
  4. Absolutely no walk-in return/replacement service will be accepted. PotatoPC is an online retailer and all transactions are handled through phone or electronic transactions.
  5. Short-shipments, and Deviations products must be reported within 5 days from delivered date or the customer is responsible. DOA products must also be reported within 5 days, or the DOA warranty period is VOID
  6. Buyer is responsible for all return shipping charges.
  7. A refund may be issued if replacement is not available.
  8. Returns may be subject to a 20% restocking fee at the discretion of PotatoPC.
  9. All defective products will be replaced within the appropriate warranty period.
Return Procedures

All returns MUST obtain an RMA (return merchandise authorization). DO NOT return items without this number written on the box, or it will be refused and the customer will be responsible to pay to ship it back again. Please send an email to ebay@potatopc.com to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.

Merchandise should be carefully packed to prevent any losses or damages in transit. Merchandise must be sent back in the original packaging with the original packing slip and displaying the appropriate RMA number.

All RMA numbers are valid for ten (10) days from their original date of issue. Returned packages not displaying an RMA number or displaying an invalid or expired RMA number will not be accepted. Expired RMA's require authorization before being reactivated and could potentially VOID a warranty if the warranty period expires. This includes the 5 day DOA period and the standard 30 day warranty period.

  1. We are not responsible for any losses in the mail when refusing delivery of unauthorized returned merchandise.

Address Verification

Address verification is a precautionary measure PotatoPC performs to ensure your safety and deter fraudulent activity. The nature of online shopping does not permit us to request a traditional form of identification, such as a driver's license, like a standard brick & mortar store. We instead conduct address verification through your credit/debit card issuer to confirm your identify and verify the validity of your purchase, ultimately protecting your credit and privacy.
Paypal Payments

PotatoPC requires that customers using Paypal as a payment method MUST have a confirmed address on their Paypal account, and that we are shipping to THAT confirmed address ONLY.  If you make a paypal payment without a confirmed shipping address, your payment will be refunded and the transaction VOID.  If you have questions as to what constitutes a Confirmed paypal shipping address, please contact Paypal.

If you wish to ship to an address other than your billing address, please contact your issuing bank and have your shipping destination added as an authorized alternate ship-to address in the record/memo field. We will contact your bank using the bank number you have provided to verify this information after you've placed an order. Please allow an extra day to verify any alternate ship-to address.

Both your billing and shipping addresses must be verified before an order will ship. If you encounter any trouble when attempting to add an alternate shipping address, let the card issuer know that you are placing an online order and that the retailer must verify your personal information before shipment to eliminate the possibility of fraud. Then, simply email us to let us know and we will re-attempt address verification to complete the processing of your order.

Orders with the same billing and shipping address are more likely to ship same-day.
