My name is Elaine West and I have lived in Savannah Georgia all my life. I am the mother of three grown children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. After my retirement of 25 years in banking, I began to do what I have always wanted to do. Starting out as a doll collector, a doll restorer and my love of all, reborning baby dolls. It is a great joy to me to see these precious babies come to look like real live babies. I have been reborning babies for seven years now and still learning better ways to acheve the realism of a baby. I use Genesis heat set paints, one layer at a time, with heat for the color to set into the vinyl until I capture the color that I am looking for. My babies can have either a mohair wig or micro. rooted mohair. The process of rooting is one to two hairs at a time. It is a lengthy and tedious job but is so natural looking that it is worth the time spent. All little fingernails and toe nails are given a soft blush color, tipped and sealed for lasting durability. The babies are blushed is all the creases, cheeks, bottom of feet and palms of hands. Light blushing is applied to different parts of the baby to give a natural glow.
