HOW TO FIND THE GRADE FOR A COIN
Following is their definition of each grade in uncirculated coins. A similar definition applies to proof coins.
MS-70. The perfect coin. Has very attractive sharp strike and original luster of the highest quality for the date and mint. No contact marks are visible under magnification. There are absolutely no hairlines, scuff marks or defects.Attractive and outstanding eye appeal. Copper coins must be bright with full original color and luster.
MS-69. Must have very attractive sharp strike and full original luster for the date and mint, with no more than two small non-detracting contact marks or flaws. No hairlines or scuff marks can be seen. Has exceptional eye appeal. Copper coins must be bright with full original color and luster.
MS-68. Attractive sharp strike and full original luster for the date and mint, with no more than four light scattered contact marks or flaws. No hairlines or scuff marks show.Exceptional eye appeal. Copper coins must have original color.
MS-67. Has full original luster and sharp strike for date and mint May have three or four very small contact marks and one more noticeable but not detracting mark. On comparable coins, one or two small single hairlines may show under magnification, or one or two partially hidden scuff marks or flaws may be present. Eye appeal is exceptional. Copper coins have lustrous original color.
MS-66.Must have above average quality of strike and full original mint luster, with no more than two or three minor but noticeable contact marks. A few very light hairlines may show under magnification, or there may be one or two light scuff marks showing of frosted surfaces or in the field. The eye appeal must be above average and very pleasing for the date and mint. Copper coins display full original or lightly toned color as designated.
MS-65.Shows an attractive high quality of luster and strike for the date and mint. A few small scattered contact marks, or two larger marks may be present, and one or two small patches of hairlines may show under magnification. Noticeable light scuff marks may show on the high points of the design. Overall quality is above average and overall eye appeal is very pleasing. Copper coins have full luster with original or darkened color as designated.
MS-64.Has at least average luster and strike for the type. Several small contact marks in groups, as well as one or two moderately heavy marks may be present. One or two small patches of hairlines may show under magnification. Noticeable light scuff marks or defects might be seen within the design or in the field. Attractive overall quality with a pleasing eye appeal. Copper coins may be slightly dull. Color should be designated.
MS-63. Mint luster may be slightly impaired. Numerous small contact marks, and a few scattered heavy marks may be seen. Small hairlines are visible without magnification. Several detracting scuff marks or defects may be present throughout the design or in the fields. The general quality is about average, but overall the coin is rather attractive. Copper pieces may be darkened or dull. Color should be designated.
MS-62. An impaired or dull luster may be evident. Clusters of small marks may be present throughout with a few large marks or nicks in prime focal areas. Hairlines may be very noticeable. Large unattractive scuff marks might be seen on major features. The strike, rim and planchet quality may be noticeably below average. Overall eye appeal is generally acceptable. Copper coins will show a diminished color and tone.
MS-61. Mint luster may be diminished or noticeably impaired, and the surface has clusters of large and small contact marks throughout. Hairlines could be very noticeable. Scuff marks may show as unattractive patches on large areas or major features. Small rim nicks, striking or planchet defects may show, and the quality may be noticeably poor. Eye appeal is somewhat unattractive. Copper pieces will be generally dull dark and possibly spotted.
MS-60. Unattractive, dull or washed out mint luster may mark this coin. There may be many large detracting contact marks, or damage spots, but absolutely no trace of wear. There could be a heavy concentration of hairlines, or unattractive large areas of scuff marks. Rim nicks may be present, and eye appeal is very poor. Copper coins may be dark, dull and spotted.
Important Terms and some advise to keep the Premium Quality Standard on its highest possible level.
Care & Handling of Coins
Careless Handling. Un-encapsulated coins are subject to nicks and wear, which reduce the grade and value of the coin. In general, collectible coins should be handled carefully to avoid the possibility of causing wear or introducing substances that may lead to spots or color changes. Many holders will provide adequate protection for ordinary handling. Before removing a coin from its holder, consider whether it's really necessary. Never touch an uncirculated or proof coin anywhere but the edge. Fingerprints alone may reduce the coin's grade and consequently its value. Handling on the edge only is mandatory when examining another person's coins, regardless of grade. Get in the habit of picking up collectible coins by their edges, and it will soon become routine. Always avoid touching the coin unnecessarily, as dirt and grease from your fingers will mar the finish over time. Avoid holding coins in front of your mouth. Small particles of moisture may eventually cause spots. When setting a coin down or viewing them outside of a holder, place it on a clean, soft surface. A velvet pad is an ideal surface and essential for regular handling of valuable material. A clean soft cloth or clean piece of blank paper may be sufficient for less valuable items. Never drag coins across any surfaces.
Cleaning Coins
Your coins may lose their brightness over time, and you'll be tempted to polish them. The best advice is ... DON'T….please don`t do it, or would you accept to receive a cleaned/polished coin.
- Any cleaning will begin to wear the coin surface, and, though it may look brighter for a time, the coin will lose its value to a collector.
- The natural tarnish of a coin is expected by collectors, and is actually proof of its authenticity.
Storing Your Coin Collection
Air. Exposure to the air oxidizes metal, changing its color. This does not reduce the value of your coins. It is advisable though, if you are storing your coins for a long period of time, you store them in a controlled environment.
Environment. A relatively constant, moderate temperature and low humidity are preferable for long term storage of numismatic collectibles. Placing packets of silica gel in coin storage areas helps control atmospheric moisture.
Holders. Several types of "containers" for coins are available. Most anything will do for coins with little numismatic value, while nearly airtight holders made of inert materials are a good idea for valuable coins.
Many modern numismatic coins come encapsulated to protect the coin from damage. Do not remove the coin from its capsule.
Bags, jars and boxes are adequate for pocket change and circulated bullion coins.
Paper envelopes of various sizes are sometimes used for one or more coins. Be sure to use envelopes made explicitly for holding coins, or your coins may change color (tone) over time due to reaction with sulfur or other chemicals present in the paper.
Various brands of folders and albums are sold for series and type sets. When properly used, they offer some protection from wear and handling. Over several years coins may tone due to reaction with sulfur or other chemicals present, and they are therefore not a good choice for long term storage of higher grade coins.
Plastic flips are available in various materials. "Soft" flips are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which decomposes over time with disastrous results for coins. They are therefore not suitable for long term storage. Mylar and acetate flips do not contain PVC. However, they are hard (may scratch the coin if not inserted and removed carefully) and brittle. While not airtight, they are reasonable choices for moderate value coins that will be "left alone" for multiple years but less so for coins to be shipped or that will be removed and reinserted.
Mylar-line cardboard, often called "2x2s" but also available in other sizes, are similar to plastic flips. A coin is placed between the two halves, which are then stapled together (some brands contain an adhesive).
Tubes are plastic containers designed to hold a number of the same size coins. They are fine for bulk storage of circulated coins and can be used for higher grade coins, provided the coins do not move. A disadvantage is that the coins cannot be viewed without being removed from the tube.
Hard plastic holders are preferable for more valuable coins. They are not known to contain any materials that harm coins and offer good protection against scratches and other physical damage. They are available for individual and small sets of coins.
"Slabs" are sonically sealed hard plastic holders for individual coins. They offer good (though still not perfect) protection, but because of the expense of having a coin slabbed, they are generally suitable only for more valuable coins.

All non-certified coins and currency are guaranteed genuine, but are not guaranteed as to grade, since grading is a matter of opinion, an art and not a science, and therefore the opinion rendered by myself or any third party grading service may not agree with the opinion of others (including trained experts), and the same expert may not grade the same item with the same grade at two different times. I have graded the non-certified numismatic items, in my opinion, to the current interpretation of the American Numismatic Association's standards as of the date the auction was prepared. There is no guarantee or warranty implied or expressed that the grading standards utilized by the Seller will meet the standards of ANACS, NGC, PCGS, ICG, CGC, CGA or any other grading service at any time in the future.
Due to changing grading standards over time, differing interpretations, and to possible mishandling of items by subsequent owners, I reserve the right to grade items differently than shown on certificates from any grading service that accompany the items.
Although consensus grading is employed by most grading services, it should be noted as aforesaid that grading is not an exact science. In fact, it is entirely possible that if a lot is broken out of a plastic holder and resubmitted to another grading service or even to the same service, the lot could come back with a different grade assigned.
Certification does not guarantee protection against the normal risks associated with potentially volatile markets. The degree of liquidity for certified coins and collectibles will vary according to general market conditions and the particular lot involved. For some lots there may be no active market at all at certain points in time.
Storage of purchased coins and currency: Purchasers are advised that certain types of plastic may react with a coin's metal or transfer plasticizer to notes and may cause damage. Caution should be used to avoid storage in materials that are not inert. Please read about Storing Your Coin Collection.

1. PCGS
2. NGC
3. ANACS
10. ICG*
Professional Coin Grading Service
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation
American Numismatic Association
Viel Spass beim Qualitaetsbewusstem Sammeln !
10. I C G*
ICG ist meistens darauf Beschraenkt Muenzen in einer Schutzhuelle ohne Qualitaetsbewertung unterzubringen. z.B. GOODACRE
Sehr begehrte Sammler Muenzen.

…you don`t have to be a scientist to figure out that we can expect the next two new pieces below to be issued in 2008 & 2009
2008 Year of the Rat
2009 Year of the Ox
These coins are the next parts of the Chinese horoscope. These coins have been issued first in 1998 and from than on every year one example. All other $5 Maple Leafs have an Privy Mark just as the private customer has choosen to have.
There is always room for the RCM to place any order from a private customer to struck every year an additional custom made PRIVY mark issue.
These coins are not available at the RCM. The customer who ordered these coins will receive the entire series.
The issue Y2K from 2000 was different because this Privy mark was stamped on a normal 2000 issue in a extremely rare quantity that has not exceed 1000 pieces.
The last private issue, the FAB12 was issued in honour to commemorate the 12 most fabulouse silver coins world wide. Every country has a special silver bullion. These coin was ordered by the RCM from a big coin shop company in Germany. They just selling lots of coins you wouldn`t like to buy !!!
This was the first part of a smart Business management Plan to get the interest of collectors on coins they like to sell.
Any other story is just a fairy tail. There was no special Set of 12 silver coins to purchase to be obligated to receive a FAB12 issue…if you check different auctions on ebay you will probably get more interesting stories.
These coins are all very elusive which makes it very collectible and sought after world wide.
Let us see how the next issues beside the Chinese horoscope look like…it might be your privy ;-)
I hope this small introduction was helpful. If you have any further comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate and write me your email.

Frank
