Yep, my first job was as a waitress.....
I was 14 in 1984, and I rode my moped to work.
By age 16 most of my friends had "cool jobs" at the mall but I chose the less glamourous road so I could rake in the cash. I spent most of it on clothes at that mall, but saved $700 of it so I could buy a rockin' 1980 Chevette....Woohoo! .....
.....

Music has been a big part of my working life, so HOLD ON LOOSELY
, as I attempt to incorporate songs from the 80s as my descriptions for some of my past creations. If you "get" where I am coming from, this quickly-written little "story" (that is in dire need of editing) might make you smile once or twice.
Yes, waitressing was fun. But, I found myself daydreaming often... "SOME DAY, SOME WAY"
...
.
HERE I GO AGAIN
,,,,,thinkin' about the BIG TIME
.......
Just because YOUR MAMA DON'T DANCE
, doesn't mean I can't RUNAWAY
with the band
Of course, I can't dance either so I guess that won't work after all. (insert funky white girl music here) ...
Besides, ELVIS is really the only one who could ROCK THE CASBAH
. And he's DEAD (or alive)
---so they SAY, SAY, SAY
.

GIRL, YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE
. Dressing like that from HEAD TO TOE
would be fun-- especially if you are a PYT.
DELIRIOUS
, I thought of taking a VACATION
to check out the OPPORTUNITIES
in the VOGUE
world of catwalks.
A quote-unquote-agent said to me, "YOU GOT THE LOOK, baby
!"

I replied, "You must be f-f-f-FOOLIN
'---have you seen my PHOTOGRAPH
?"
ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER
and it became clearer that the only STRAY CAT STRUT
I'd be doing would have to do with DIRTY LAUNDRY
.
Oh--speaking of laundry, someone had to SHOCK THE MONKEY
into doing hers.

All this talk about work calls for a break. GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN
, after all. So let's TURN UP THE RADIO
and LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!

ROLL WITH IT
, baby.

Skating ROUND AND ROUND
is great. But when ANOTHER ONE BITES DUST
, I decided to WALK THIS WAY
--

right OUTTA MY DREAMS
and INTO MY CAR
.

Oops. Wrong car. Mine is the PINK CADILLAC
.
And it cost a lot more than that 700 bucks.
I guess you get the idea. I loved waitressing all through high school and college. I followed my HEART AND SOUL
, and became an artist...
and most importantly, a wife and mom. The tips aren't that great, but I am eternally grateful for this job, above all others I have had or even dreamt about!!!. :)
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm GOIN BACK TO KALLIE
----no, really, I am. That's not a typo. I am painting a portrait of a sweetie named Kallie. :) WORD UP.
Here are a few other examples of work I have done. The above examples don't read as well as they do in PERSON, where you can see the whole story on each set. Please see my past listings, website, and me page for more of the details and how I make the "stories" flow...
Here are more random examples...
