About the Artist
To learn and see even more, we invite you to visit our Gallery at www.prochaskagalleries.com
The Artist and Disneyland... Kevin Prochaska is a master glassblower whose experience spans nearly 30 years. As a child he marveled at the collection of intricate glass figurines decorating his sister's room. Determined to learn the trade, he read books about the art and began experimenting on his own. In 1977, he began his professional career as a glass artist at Disneyland, CA. where he met his wife of 25 years. As a Disneyland glassblower for more than a decade, he enjoyed working in the public eye creating various sculptures for the guests and celebrities who would sometimes watch for hours. His work has appeared in various television specials, feature length films, and even at the White House.
Here are just a few of the unique projects Kevin has worked on over the years:
· The "Walley World" glasses featured in Warner-Brothers Studios - National Lampoon's "ChristmasVacation"
starring Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid, and Beverly D'Angelo.
· During the Reagan Administration, Kevin designed and manufactured One-of-a-Kind Christmas Tree
Ornaments to represent the State of California at the White House in Washington D.C.
· The Cinderella's Glass Slipper in "The Grace Kelly Story" starring Cheryl Ladd.
· Created the hilariously oversized bifocals worn by Danny Kaye in “Disney's 25th Anniversary Special” with
Danny Kaye.
Company History... Prochaska Galleries first opened its doors in 1981 creating custom wedding cake ornaments for brides-to-be. Kevin and Kathy’s studio soon became one of the largest manufacturers of crystal cake tops in the US. With the help of a major marketing campaign in “Brides” magazine, Prochaska Galleries was able to satisfy the needs of thousands of brides who were searching for an alternative to the usual sort of wedding cake topper. As the business grew, it became apparent that Kevin alone could not keep pace with all the orders so the company soon hired several of the most talented Disneyland glass artists to help. Kevin was then able to specialize in doing custom work for individual customers while his team of glass artists concentrated on the production work. Additionally, Prochaska Galleries’ southern California location has afforded the opportunity to for Kevin to work on a wide variety of projects for various television and movie studios.
Gold and Molten Glass… Being one of a handful of artists to have studied the technique of applying pure gold to molten glass, Kevin and Kathy’s studio began crafting a line of intricate glass sculptures, enhanced with the colorful golden hues of 24K gold. This exceptional line of figurines continues to be popular among collectors today.
As one travels the country, and even the world, you’ll recognize the unique styles of Prochaska Galleries. Our work can be found in the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, the cruise ship ports in Alaska, and even on the other side of the world as travelers make their way to Japan.

Pride in craftsmanship... Perhaps no other product in the marketplace requires the same degree of skill in its manufacture as handcrafted glassware, for it is truly a product made entirely by hand. No molds are used to insure accuracy of design. No machines are used to speed the production process. In fact, the techniques developed hundreds of years ago are the same techniques utilized by today's modern glass artist. |
