Just a little bit about me...

|
I am a life-long craftswoman. I learned how to weave and spin in 1972...had a clothing company in the 1980s...have learned and researched American crafts and the Arts & Crafts Movement. I am particularly interested in the philosophy of the movement, as well as the material crafts.
Books I recommend are:
:::The Story of Craft: The Craftsman's Role in Society by Edward Lucie-Smith
:::The Craftsman in America published by the National Geographic Society
:::Walk In Beauty: The Navajo and Their Blankets by Anthony Berland and Mary Hunt Kahlenberg
:::The History of Twentiety-Century American Craft (series of volumes) edited by Janet Kardon
...in particular the volume entitled: The Ideal Home 1900-1920 and in it a chapter called "William Price's Arts and Crafts Colony at Rose Valley, Pennsylvania by George E. Thomas
