We buy and sell. Glass is a hobby and sort of a passion.
We are related to a quite well know American Brilliant Glass cutter, and that is what got us started.
Packing glassware - Our Way of Caring for Your Purchase
How we pack your glassware:
If you are interested in bidding on any glassware item and are concerned about packing and shipping,
this is how we care for your item:
We recycle clean and useable packing materials – boxes and newspaper and bubble wrap.
· Each piece of glassware is first wrapped in BRAND NEW foam. This is to protect your glassware from dirt and scratches.
· Plates and bowls are separated with bubble wrap or foam.
· Stems are foam wrapped separately for stabilization.
· Exposed areas, like finials or handles on pitchers are foam wrapped separately.
· The bowl of a piece of stemware is wrapped in foam and secured with only one piece of scotch tape. Then the piece of glassware is wrapped in bubble wrap. This bubble wrap is secured with only one piece of scotch tape.
· Then stems are shrink wrapped in all directions and the end of the shrink wrap is twisted for your ease of removal. Why? Because we have opened literally hundreds of pieces of stemware that are wrapped with heavy duty tape in all directions as if they intended to escape during shipping. The difficulty of getting the tape off endangers fragile glassware. We depend on the wrapping…not on the taping.
· Finally stemware is packaged in lots of two or three, depending on the size, corrugated inserts are placed between the wrapped stems and the package is wrapped again with bubble wrap and secured with one piece of wrapping tape. We use both large and small bubble wrap depending on the weight of the piece. This makes three layers of wrapping.
· Please take care when opening your stemware or glassware.
If our shipping seems higher than average: We use larger boxes. We generally have at least one inch of peanuts or other supportive material at the bottom of the box. We try to have at least one inch of newspaper around all the sides of the box. In other words, glassware (even wrapped) is not touching the sides of the box. We do this knowing that the post office can throw boxes, even those marked fragile. We do not use Flat Rate boxes except in cases of very small items. We don’t believe buyers want to save a couple of dollars for us to force stemware into a cheaper box. We try to offer both Parcel Post and Priority shipping rates. We do not charge a handling fee. If you win an auction, you deserve good packing and your item arriving in one piece. We DO NOT have 100% record of no breakage. We cannot guarantee against breakage and we suggest insurance. But we have minimal breakage. Please see our feedback. We are NOT recommending this packaging…it has worked for us and we thought you might like to know before placing a bid.
We try to sell pieces that we like and that we hope you will like.
