She has been involved with teaching classes at area dog clubs as well as at the Nebraska Youth Correctional Facility for Project HEART where she has been involved for over a year. She is also responsible for helping to launch Project FETCH at the Nebraska Humane Society in early 2004. She currently shares her home with 5 dogs and a parakeet. Sandi has trained in obedience, agility, flyball and tracking and has even trained her dog Heidi for the role of “Sandy” in the Omaha Community Playhouse’s production of the play “Annie”. In the fall of 2005, Sandi's dog Heidi auditioned for and won a role in the major motion picture "California Dreaming" starring opposite Lea Thompson and Patricia Richardson. Hansen says, “Although I believe that it takes very hard work to obtain numerous titles on dogs, my focus has always been on nothing more than to co-exist peacefully with them. My dog training philosophy is more about maintaining proper skills for everyday living situations, reinforcing positive behaviors, and having fun with my dogs.”
