My Experience as an eBay Top Seller Account Manager
Scott Andrews - (Former) eBay TSAM
I recently spent two years as an eBay Top Seller Account Manager (TSAM) and, believe me, the experience was a real eye-opener! Although I met many great people (both fellow employees and the 200+ Top Seller Accounts I worked with) and learned much, I grew increasing frustrated and disappointed with eBay.
Between you and me, I've never seen such a poorly managed company - an opinion which is substantiated by their recent financial performance. eBay is going from being an American icon - a household word - to an also-ran. Once thought to be recession-proof business, top management has (through a series of disastrous policy changes) alienated much of their REAL customers - the sellers! I'm talking about the very top corporate-level people - the ones (unfortunately) responsible for leading, directing, and maintaining the company's success.
I finally left eBay in disgust - before they could fire me - and many of my old accounts still maintain contact. I considered authoring a course specifically for eBay sellers - both Top Sellers and those who may have experienced a degree of success with the "old eBay" but have grown increasingly frustrated and dissatisfied iwth their sales and marketing results on the site.
...then I found a course being offered for such an inexpensive price that I dropped my plans and saved myself a LOT of work - and it'll save YOU (IF you're smart and grab a copy TODAY) a lot of money! GO HERE - and BUY This NOW!To be honest, some of this information has been outdated by eBay's ongoing, confusing and downright seller-hostile and self-serving policy changes. However, just a couple of the advanced marketing strategies this video and print course teach are alone worth 10 times the asking price - they are things EVERY eBay seller should be doing to protect themselves from eBay's stupidity and greed.
The main thing I had impressed upon me during my tenure at eBay is that eBay cares about ONE thing - their quarterly profits. Inherent in this philosophy is the ingrained belief that YOUR buyers are eBay's customers - not
YOUR customers. And eBay will do everything they can to control your access to YOUR customers - up to and including shutting down your account, even if you're selling hundreds of thousands of dollars per month. This is a company which WILL (and is currently doing this) cut off its nose to spite its face! To truly be successful online today, you need to diversify, learn to market yourself, control the communication with YOUR customers, and not depend on new customers (or even existing ones) finding your products via eBay's organic traffic or internal search engine (you've probably been screwed by "Best Match" more than once) any longer.
I have included some resource links over here ====>>>>
If you are an eBay seller currently, I would especially urge you to take action TODAY to start weaning yourself from a dependence upon eBay alone - or you'll eventually starve! That being said, if you're simply too busy trying to comply with eBay's constant policy changes, PLEASE find someone to do the grunt work for you, and use your new-found free time to seriously explore ways to increase your profits - both on eBay as well via other venues. In my opinion, EVERY eBay seller ought to subscribe to My Silent Team - this is the best bargain on the market for ANY online seller.
Many of my TSAM accounts were also local business owners - their online sales were but a subsidiary of a brick-and-mortar store. If this describes you, you're probably feeling the effects of the economic downturn (as well as a decrease in eBay sales - a double- whammy!) and need to learn how to better market your offline business using online techniques.
Online marketing for offline businesses is a huge growth field currently, simply because the need is so great! Consultants (such as myself) can charge hundreds of dollars to advise you on marketing your local business online. However, if you are the kind who takes charge and wants to maintain control (as do most eBay sellers) over your marketing and sales processes, the best resource I can recommend to you is Offline Biz
Take a look at these resources, then decide to take action TODAY - you can thank me later!
'Nuff said?
