CRAIGS MUSIC.
The early years.
I first got into guitars at the age of 10. They say you never forget the first time - mine was a Kay electric. I already admired bands like The Beatles and The Who and like any young child who was into music, I wanted to be a rock god.
Time moves on and a move to Cornwall found me working in a music shop. I started to go out gigging in bands on the local music scene. I started playing with a band called the Buick Boys which was mainly Rockabilly. This band was quite successful in the southwest. Through band members, I was introduced to my wife to be. After the band split, I found myself playing 60's and 70's Rock in a duo. This lasted for about 5 years. Laterly I have gone back to the Rockabilly and early rock scene, which I enjoy immensely.
Over the years, I have owned a number of guitars and played in a number of venues. Like all gigging musicians, a number of minor setbacks seem to happen. After the initial panicing you learn how to rectify these problems. You learn how to take care of you instruments and equipment. Sometimes you even learn when to say your beaten.
Experience can count for alot and I still believe that if I am going to sell guitars, PA, lights etc then I need to know how they all work and perform in the 'real world'. This is why I still go out gigging every weekend.
CRAIGS MUSIC
A new owner
How do we get into these situations. Like most things, an opertunity arises and some times you just have to grasp it.
12 years ago I was offered the chance of buying the shop. How could I say no? My own music shop. Finally I was the proud (slightly naieve) owner of Craigs Music.
Hard work, gigging, even more hard work and a little bit of good fortune and I was on the way to starting to make this work.
12 years later and I am the Managing Director of Craigs Music Ltd. My wife is now the Company Secretary and where I had 1 retail unit, I now have 3.
I still believe that giving good advice and a good price goes along way with customers. I can still relate with the local music scene and I would like to say I know what I'm talking about.
The shop itself has grown year on year and we deal with a huge number of major suppliers.
Our inevitable branch into Ebay has resulted in our shop 'Guitars and Lights'. Hopefully the products and service we supply is comparable to our high street retail shop. We believe that we offer a professional, personal and efficient service. Ebay can be a 'minefield' but hopefully our small part of it is trustworthy and dependable.
Always feel free to ask any question, in any way, through our various contact mediums.
April 2008 will see 'Guitars and Lights' become a Platinum Level Power Seller. Also we have subscribed to Square Trade. These 2 institutions will give you the buyer added confidence when dealing with us.
