I originally started handling books about 1961. I accumulated a lot of exploration and travel volumes, then decided to spread them around by selling them on eBay. They are pretty well gone now and I am only offering occasional volumes, along with an exciting new discovery...I can create new CD's out of my old 33 1/3 rpm record albums. That is taking a lot of time because it is quite labor intensive, but I have also started converting old VHS tapes and CamCorder tapes to DVD's, so that all keeps me busy. Am finally reducing the size required to store these items, making them easier to sort through and much easier to handle and play, since I can use them on my Walkman, in my car or while I'm in the shop, simply because they aren't those old cumbersome vinyls and other materials that were subject to dirt, grim and mis-handling. I also am still selling some books for the Library System, but we have really expanded our on-site sales opportunities so there aren't as many of the older volumes to be sold via eBay now. Douglas County is located on the I-5 corridor in south-western Oregon and is the home of the Umpqua Valley which runs from Crater Lake to the Pacific Ocean at Reedsport. The Library System maintains its headquarters in Roseburg and has branches in 10 surrounding cities. Initially I went on ebay as the Treasurer of the Friends of the Library (thus the foltreasurer designation). More recently I was appointed to the Board for the Library and continue selling; thus I have the pleasure of disposing of volumes no longer required by the Douglas County Library System--usually because they are too old to be in great demand in this area and too many to be stored. The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization and all net proceeds from their sales are returned to that organization for use in procuring new volumes for the library. The Library's problem in disposing of their excess books is a unique opportunity for me to distribute these volumes to the vast number of bibliophiles haunting the eBay auctions.
