My interest in stamps


I started having an interest in stamps back when my Grandfather gave me 3 Federal Duck hunting stamps back in 1960. If he had saved all of them since his hunting days in the 30's & 40's & 50's , i'd have quite the collection. After moving to the suburbs of Chicago from the west side of the city where my Grandfather lived, i continued my interest after going with my mom to the Post Office & seeing the stamp posters of newly issued stamps. That was 1960 as well. The Postal clerk was nice enough to give me all of the expired pages.Upon starting school i learned of a teacher who started a stamp collecting club after school and i was hooked. My friend down the block also had cigar & shoe boxes full of stamps that he got from his dad who worked for United Airlines. We traded stamps after school. 

As it turned out i got mononeucleoisis during my freshman year of college & flunked out having not dropped the classes thinking that i could catch up. The draft board in 1970 wasted no time & i was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970. Upon returning home i finished Junior College & transfered to Nothern Illinois University & obtained a B.S. Degree in Marketing in 1975.  I worked for the Postal Service for 30 years. I accumulated a ton of current issues over the years that are the basis of many a collection. Whew, !!!! Is that enough info??? If you read this, thanks for your time. Ebay is, & has been, a wonderful way to buy & sell stamps. I never would have thought so. I did have my store open & will so again in order to sell many of my duplicates. l have also just changed directions in my collecting ventures & will be offering quite a few stamps here once i have a much needed surgery.............................................................................................................................Please Note ........I have just changed my user ID here upon the suggestion of Ebay due to it being too similar to my email address....Thanks for looking, Rick
