She started her love of antiques 30 years ago from the influence of her Aunt Lucy. She learned to appreciate the beauty of things from the past and says, "When you look at  a piece of furniture or hold something in your hands, just think of the people who've done the same, the lives that this has passed through with time, yet today you can touch it and see the beauty in it that has endured through the years. As my shop began to grow, I was very lucky in finding some real good stuff for some real good prices, my first sign had 'buy - sell - trade' on it and I had more people wanting to sell me their things than I had wanting to buy my things. In the long run it has paid off though because I was able to build a good inventory and I have 'a little bit of everything' including sports collectibles. I've enjoyed antiques for 30 years and in the last 3 years I've learned more about them than in the prior 27 years. I believe in free enterprise but I don't want to profit by being unfair or 'hoodooing' anyone so I learn everything I can about my items. That way I know if I have the real thing for a fair price. I have also found out 'how much I don't know' and love an opportunity to learn from others who do know. I believe in fairness and honesty, while it may take a long time for my business to 'make it', when I get there it'll be solid. I'll also see my customers returning time and again because they'll know they got treated right with a good dose of southern hospitality."     I've worked in several fields in my life and always, in the back of my mind, I had a dream of having my own shop where I could have antiques and help people find what they want. I also love working with wood so I enjoy helping someone maintain their wooden antiques without changing them. When a piece needs repair or restoration, I think it is important to keep it like it was made to be, I don't refinish a piece unless there's really no alternative, or if the owner wants it refinished. The first piece that I refinished for a fee was a Hoosier Cabinet and my friend said, "I know how you love your antiques so just do it as if it were your own." When he picked it up he didn't say a whole lot about how it looked. An hour and a half later he called me and said, " I just got it all set up and I just wanted to tell you ........... it looks just........beautiful!" During his pauses I was wincing and I was so relieved that he liked it. That gave me the confidence to refinish for the public. I also offer the service of cleaning antiques, many people are not really sure about cleaning something (especially wood) without ruining it or damaging the finish.I stay busy and put a lot of time in it, but like it says here at the beginning - it's a dream in the making, my dream.
