Portraits, seascapes, landscapes and flowers
My name is Ronald Wilson, I paint full time in the Pacific Northwest, with scenes of Friday Harbor in Washington State, and Victoria BC, Canada.
I do loose and brushy work with a bit more realism than impressionism, and I find myself drawn to people subjects, landscapes and seascapes.
My home style comes from countries in which I've painted, including South Africa where I was born, USA where I was for four years, and Canada which is where I live. Recently I have been painting in the UK and Switzerland too. I like the work of Sargent, Stobart, Sorolla, Edward Seago and Paul Strisik. I also follow Ovanes Berberian, Paul Bosman, Dino Paravano, Enslin Vorster, Kevin MacPherson, Karin Jurick and Susan Greaves. I know that each of these excellent artists has an influence on how I paint today but somehow I remain me, and hope that you'll recognise the "Wilson" look in my own work. We all search for a style but I believe it eventually happens without even trying...
My work appears in galleries in South Africa, United States and Canada. Now that I've discovered eBay I'm am enjoying a new audience. Galleries are great, I believe in the gallery system but one's paintings can't hang on their walls all year through - that's where eBay comes in. With eBay I can show my work often and get it seen because I want people to possess my work. Visit me at artistwilson dot com
