Why S.S.Leviathan?
Some people have asked me where I got my Ebay i.d.It's simple,I LOVE OCEANLINERS!!! The "LEVIATHAN" was launched as the German luxury liner"VATERLAND",the ship was interred at Hoboken,N.J. at the beginning of WW1,became the troop ship USS LEVIATHAN when the U.S. entered the war and after the war was refurbished as the liner SS LEVIATHAN,the first great US oceanliner and largest in the world at least for a little while.

LAUNCHED:April 3,1913.
LENGTH:907.5 feet.
WIDTH:100.3 feet.
GROSS TONNAGE:54,282 tons.
PROPULSION:Direct-acting steam turbines geared to quadruple screws.
TOP SPEED:22.5 knots.FUNNELS:3.
CAPACITY,MILITARY:2,200 crew.(1917),1,165 crew(1919),7,250 troops(1917),8,250;10,500;12,000 troops(1918).
CAPACITY,COMMERCIAL:1,120 crew,750 first class,535 second class,850 third class,1,536 fourth class.
ARMAMENT:8 six inch guns,2 1-pounder cannons,2 30 caliber machine guns.
SERVICE:Hamburg-Amerika Line,U.S.Navy,United States Lines.
DISPOSITION:Scrapped at Rosyth,Scotland,1938.
My Interests
When I was in high school,I was a motor head.All I loved was cars,cars,girls,cars!!Well it's fifteen years later and,I still love cars,old trucks,busses,trains,girls....(the list just goes on and on).I have always been fascinated by American history,especially the period between 1850 to 1948.The hobbies I enjoy most are studying the great oceanliners,collecting hand crank phonographs,old cylinder and 78 rpm records to play on my phonographs and anything Thomas Edison!! Edison has been a life long favorite of mine so you could imagine my delight when my son was born on Edisons 150th birthday.My wife couldn't believe it!She also can't believe how I can go from listening to the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilie Peppers to Duke Ellington,Glenn Miller and Paul Whiteman's Orchestra at the drop of a hat.Anyway,I want to thank all of my past buyer's and look forward to many more smooth transactions!!
