Hi----
Nope -- I don't have a Santa complex going, but I do get a kick out of giving trains and toys away to kids when they least expect it.
Want to stop little fingers playing with rolling stock on a train meet table?
How about the dad or mom with the very cute, but tired kid(s)?
Hand the kid(s) a small toy train car or engine ( wood, plastic, whatever ).
You will get either a big smile(s) or at least a cautiously extended hand(s).
Dad or Mom gets a few more minutes at the train meet and you get to drive some other dealer that is watching absolutely nuts!!
"Do you have any electric trains, railroad items, sharpening steels, old Christmas tree stands ( preferably cast iron ) or wooden model kits???"
That was me at any one of the garage sales I walked up to over the years.
Of course, there was also the odd train meet. That is where all the trouble truly started!
To make a long story short---
The agreement with my wife is that I am allowed to buy trains, only if I take what I want out of the lot and sell the rest.
In theory, a good plan. No new money is spent and the already gone money re-churns.
The problem comes when the little bit you want is mixed in with a whole lot of trains items you have no idea about. Over the years on eBay, I have sold off box of trains. Problem is there are boxes left to sell.
I in no way claim to be an expert and do not have the recall of many that can recite part numbers and years of manufacture, let alone variations.
The layout suffers for the time spent doing eBay. My wife says I love the hunt and playing with train stuff I have not seen before than actually running trains around a layout. She is probably right.
So- why are you still reading this???
Start looking at my listings and have fun!!!
I have trains to find----
