Saied Music was established in January of 1946 by James G. "Jimmie" Saied. Jimmie Saied had a truly diverse musical background and brought with him a unique knowledge of the music business. Over the years, Jimmie won numerous accolades for his contributions to the music business. He was quite fond of John Phillip Sousa, and even impersonated Sousa from time to time. One significant acomplishment of Jimme's was the making of Sousa's famous Stars and Stripes Forever into our country's national march. It was his vision that not only created, but also inspired others to help form what Saied Music Company is today.

As a band director in Oklahoma, Jimmie was dissatisfied with the lack of services provided from the local music retailers, especially regarding professional music educators. This circumstance motivated Jimmie to eventually start his own company--one with an emphasis on servicing school music programs in the region. Soon, the first Saied Music Company store opened for business in downtown Tulsa. This store remained in the downtown Tulsa area until 1964 when, due to the expanded business, the store moved to its current location in mid-town Tulsa.

In 1967 Jimmie Saied's son, James Robert "Bob" Saied, joined his father's company working in band sales department.

In 1985, Jimmie retired and sold his interest in the company to Bob, who is now the sole owner of the company.
