My name is Sally Brooker & I've been crafting for over 35 years (now I feel REALLY old!!!) beginning with machine knitting which I taught for a while.
Macrame came next making mostly curtains and wall hangings & this led to making friendship bracelets which friends would take to places like Glastonbury
to sell for me - a serious car accident when I was 19 restricted certain activities mostly involving horses & muddy fields! I began making cards some 30 years
ago, when craft shops were places that you bought finished items, in those days we only had pinking scissors to create decorative edges, punches were
for making holes, rubber stamps were for your name and address or a date though there were children's sets available with tiny images, die cutting machines
on a domestic scale hadn't even been thought of - oh those were the days! I remember my very first craft fair - I was the ONLY person there selling hand made cards & was considered a bit of a novelty amongst the more traditional crafters with their hand knitted & crocheted products & the guy in the corner selling
willow baskets!
In 1984 I started a monthly craft club in the village hall which began with just seven members, by the beginning of 1985 we had nearly 200 members & weekly meetings covering almost every craft imaginable including wood turning, lace making & metal work! I started to stock small quantities of various craft
requisites for the club members, in those days there was only one craft shop within a 30 mile radius selling mainly rug making kits, knitting wools. cross stitch kits
and a very limited supply of card and paper, & my business has grown from there! I began a new career as a telecommunications engineer in the early 1990s
and the crafting took a back seat for a while but I continued to supply a few craft clubs in small quantities & in 2002 discovered ebay as a market place. Ebay allows me the flexibility to pursue the other great love of my life - playing golf (when fitness allows)!
In 2006, following conversations with my customers regarding  the cost of selling their handmade items at craft fairs & on ebay, the idea of our online craft
market was born. The idea was to give crafters an outlet for their produce at a reasonable cost without the worry of insurance (all craft fairs require you to have public liability insurance these days), no listing fees & no final value fees. We decided to make it as available to as many crafters as possible and, though you
need some knowledge of html to make the stalls really stand out, very easy to use. Each stall has its own unique URL & can be forwarded directly to from
your own existing domain name. The cost of 25.00 a year includes upgrades as and when they are available - we are constantly working to improve the site
- over 33000 individual items can be listed in each stall and up to three pictures can be uploaded per item. The stalls include fully functional shopping baskets, automated postage calculations from the UK to worldwide & checkout. The craft market stall holders are, for the most part, friendly, helpful & very welcoming
to new members & I've certainly made lots of new friends!
