You're the Expert - You Ask the Questions |
I am not an expert on collectables and their condition. I offer an item for its practical value -
that is, a book is offered for you to read, not to accrue value and then sell for a profit. BUT, if you
are a collector and are concerned about the minutiae of condition, please contact me before bidding.
I do my best to describe these items, but please do your best to make sure you will get what you want out
of the deal. So, before you bid:
- Ask questions about condition or content that are important to you.
- Ask for additional photos or scans of the item - allow some time for this to be done.
- Do your own research !
|
|
Payment |
- eBay has made Paypal mandatory for nearly all payments.
- All payments must be in US Dollars.
- Payment must be received and cleared within 7 days, or a Non-Paying-Bidder notification will be made.
- Please make only one (1) payment - if buying more than one item, please
wait for the combined invoice.
|
|
Combined Shipping |
- Yes - I do combine shipping for items purchased at the same time, or with
prior arrangements - and this will save you money.
- After you purchase your items, please wait for my
combined invoice (with reduced shipping), before making payment.
- If you pay the full shipping charges without waiting for a combined
invoice - I will presume that you don't want the reduction.

International Customers |
First of all, let me say that for five years I lived in two foreign countries and I was born in a third -
so I am not the standard xenophobe American. I bought a rug in Morocco, gold jewelry in
Turkey, and a thousand pilsners in Germany. If you bid on an item, then you are agreeing to the
following conditions:
- All payments must be made through Paypal - no exceptions.
- Confirm shipping charges - I will provide an exact shipping charge quote on request.
- Keep in mind that international shipping charges can be much higher than the US
shipping charges shown.
- Standard USPS international shipping methods do not include a tracking number or
insurance - these are more expensive.
- You are responsible for any customs or duty charges imposed by your country - I will not falsify
customs forms by marking "gift".
APO/FPO troops - your business is always welcome here; I've been there, and done that. Thank you
for your service. |

RETURN POLICY |
|
I have been selling on eBay for 10 years, and I have never had a refund policy. Now, eBay is telling
me that I must have a refund policy - even if my policy is "no returns". I have never had a return
policy, because - after over 8,000 transactions - nobody has ever asked to return an item. Not one.
If you want to return your item, please contact me and we will work out a solution. In the mean time,
I still don't have a policy. |
 |
ITEM AS DESCRIBED: |
If you know a seller who takes more time describing each and every item the way I do - let me know.
Many eBay booksellers these days don't give any description at all; they use the "pre-filled" information
or no description at all. They expect you to buy a pig in a poke. My descriptions are as
detailed as I can get them. Basic information on a book usually includes:
- Cover type, size, number of pages
- Author, publisher, copyright, edition
- Rarity and comparison prices
- Complete list of contents
- Full disclosure of all problems, flaws, overall condition
- Many times I include an "excerpt" from the item - who else does this?
- Lastly - I always provide an excellent scan/photo of the actual item - no
"stock" photos.

COMMUNICATION: |
I still have a day job, so I can't answer your messages immediately during the day. But I can respond
fairly quickly in the evening and much of the weekend. Here's one hint to help communication: please
don't "hide" your email address, when you send a message. I prefer to send regular emails. The
communication process during a transaction will be like this:
- eBay will send you a "Winning" email - letting you know that you've won/purchased an item from me
- Within 12 hours of your payment, I will send you a "SHIPPING" notification email, which will tell
you:
- Shipping date
- USPS shipping method (Media, Priority, etc)
- The delivery confirmation number (if applicable)
My email address: salvarsansales@charter.net

SHIPPING TIME: |
|
I ship as quickly as I possibly can. Most people pay for their purchase in the evening - for those of
you, your item will ship out the next morning. You can pay up to 6AM and I will ship out that day.
I ship out every day but Sunday (and holidays). Most of my items are shipped via USPS Media
Mail. Here's what you need to know about Media Mail:
- This rate is very cheap and it's the same rate no matter where you live - that's the good news
- In return for the cheap rate, the USPS reserves the right to take their time moving the package to
you.
- On average, a Media Mail shipped item will arrive in 5-7 business days
- However, very rarely, it can take up to 2-3 weeks for a Media item to arrive
The time it takes the USPS to deliver your item - is not my responsibility. According to eBay,
"shipping time" is how long it takes me to put your item into the hands of the USPS. For me, that
will always be less than 1 business day. If it takes the USPS 10 days to deliver your item -
my "shipping time" is still less than 1 business day. |
 |
SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGES: |
First of all, I do not inflate shipping charges to add to a profit, or pay eBay fees, etc -
like many sellers do. But - I do need to charge the minimum required to ship your item safely and
efficiently. Here are my standard shipping materials/costs:
- USPS postage, with delivery confirmation (discounted) if applicable
- Foam wrapping and/or packing peanuts
- New cardboard box, padded envelope, or cardboard envelope - depending on item
- High quality shipping tape (I get it cheap)
- Large shipping label - works with my shipping software
For a typical 2-lb book, the calculated shipping charge is $3.77. That breaks down to:
- $2.96 USPS Postage
- $0.55 Box
- $0.15 Foam wrap & peanuts
- $0.08 Tape and label
- $3.74 TOTAL -- That leaves just 3¢ to pay for my time packing your item and for
gas to get to the post office.
Some of my customers may think I should ship their item with cheaper
materials - using a castaway shoe box or wrap their book in newspaper instead of foam. Problem is, I
don't live behind a Walmart, so I don't have access to a dozen free boxes every week. I buy all of my
shipping materials at wholesale prices - to save you money. Using slightly better materials
guarantees that your item will arrive in exactly the same condition that you paid for. I have never
had an item damaged in transit, and I think it's worth spending 78¢ for that guarantee. |
