most advanced computer-based production tools at great prices, backed by technical support
from our veteran product specialists.
We're the supplier of choice amongst Canada's leading professional musicians, music
production companies, film and television composers, recording studios, audio post
production facilities, radio and television broadcasters, educational institutions and
more.
Our Product Specialists are dedicated to helping you find the ideal equipment solution for
your music or audio production requirements. After your purchase, our ongoing
technical support helps you get the most from your investment. We'll even help keep
your system up to date with the latest updates and upgrades available.
We're an Authorized Dealer for every major product line, and one of Canada's oldest
Apple Macintosh dealers. Our relationship with Apple started in 1985 when we were the
first music retailer in Canada to offer Macintosh computers bundled with MIDI sequencers
and interfaces. Today we sell more Macintosh computers than all other Canadian music
retailers combined.
As Canada's first Digidesign retailer in 1984, we have enjoyed a long and successful
relationship with this innovative company. Today we are their largest Canadian dealer,
outselling both major Canadian music chains from our single Toronto location. Our
dedicated Pro Tools sales group has been involved in putting together literally hundreds
of turnkey Pro Tools systems over the last few years.
A strong commitment to providing outstanding customer service has been the key to our
success since inception. Fair and correct treatment of customers is always our first
priority. If you're not satisfied with any aspect of your purchase, you can count on us to
do everything possible to "make it right"! Although today our primary business is retail sales, our roots
are in sound programming, recording and production. Even today we still do the odd
consulting job for one of our special customers. Here's an outline of our involvement in
two recent projects:
Rolling Stones: Bridges To Babylon World Tour
Saved By Technology recently provided a wide range of services for the Rolling Stones for
their Bridges To Babylon world tour. We first provided synth and sampler programming to
the Stones back in 1994 for the Voodoo Lounge world tour; this August and September 1997
the Stones were back in Toronto to rehearse for their next tour. Saved By Technology
provided synth and sampler programming as well setting up mobile music systems for band
members and crew. In the end, the Stones left Toronto with quite a few new toys provided
by SBT which included fully-loaded Roland JV-2080's for keyboard player Chuck Leavell, a
Roland VK-7 organ for front stage use, a Roland PMA-5 for the bass player and lots of
software!
Rush "Test for Echo" Tour
Saved By Technology has been providing synth and sampler tour programming services to Rush
since 1983. Most recently, SBT completed tour programming for the Rush "Test for
Echo" Tour in 1996 and 1997. Canada's legendary power trio uses an extensive MIDI rig
to accurately reproduce material from their 21-album catalog. The band refuses to use a
sequencer live, instead all three members manually trigger the samples as part of their
live performance using a combination of keyboards, MIDI bass pedals and drum triggers! For
every tour since Grace Under Pressure (1984), Saved By Technology has been responsible for
sampling material from the master tapes, trimming, looping and mapping out the samples
according to which band member will be triggerring them, and tweaking the samples
throughout rehearsals and during the beginning of each tour. In addition SBT has provided
custom synth programming to the band.
