A Little About the Crew at SMBC:
On The Upside: Chris has been building models and scratch building dioramas for just over 25 years now. His infatuation with the craft begin as a personal hobby, he soon began building requests for friends and family. He took a short break after high school to serve in the US Navy where he obtained the skills of a certified welder and served aboard the USS Cimarron AO-177. After his Naval career was over he traveled around a bit before settling down in his home state of Michigan. Working as State Certified Aircraft mechanic until the September 11th. Catastrophe shook up the airline industry and put him out looking for work. Chris jumped back into his hobby and expanded his talents offering his models & dioramas on eBay and this web site for the whole world to share. Chris now sells from Canada to Germany to Australia to Japan, in the U.S.A. from California to New York. Hobby shops throughout the world are beginning to carry his innovative and original products as ?Scale Modeling By Chris?. Our staff of design and proto-type engineers draws all of Scale Modeling By Chris (SMBC) products up right here in out Livonia Michigan location. Our staff includes, Chris?s brother and Ex - US NAVY, Paul, a graphics design & proto-type specialist. Our resin specialist and Ex - US ARMY, Ron (from Scale Model Resins), Ron is a retired proto-type engineer for Chrysler Corp. and also runs a successful model train resin accessory company. In our Livonia facility we have complete C.A.D. design capabilities, C.N.C., Bridgeport and Lathe Equipment. We have a complete resin pouring and mold making area, headed up by Erica and Donna. Together these ladies pour what can only be described as the highest quality resin products in the industry today. Some of Chris?s accomplishments in the industry include many model show wins, also Chris has built custom cars for John Buttera, and has done the box art models for Revell-Monogram, including the #24 Jeff Gordon 2003 kit, and Revell of Germany?s 1/72 Badger Bridge layer. Also Chris?s models were present at the 2003 RTCHA Trade Show. Some of his models are also on display at the U.S. Navy 32nd street Naval Base Museum.
On The Down Side: Many basement resin and pewter casters have (pardon the pun) casted a dark shadow over the legitimate producers. There has been a lot of mud slinging and misdirected finger pointing. Chris and the partners of Scale Modeling By Chris can only assure you (our valued customers) that we do not intend to compete in this banter, but only provide you with quality original products on a continuous basis and keep bring new and innovated products to the market.
