Our Grading System:

DESCRIPTION OF ITEMS FOR SALE OR AUCTION

We rely primarily on full descriptions and pictures for you to evaluate the condition of the items we are selling. We will also refer to traditional grading scales for convenience.

However, as grading scales tend to be somewhat subjective, and pictures don always tell the whole story, we ask that you consider the FULL description when making your purchases. We do make every effort to accurately describe all pertinent features, including flaws.

We also take into consideration component items, such as paper and / or boxes (see below), and describe them separately IF they are relevant to the primary piece.

GRADING SYSTEM COLLECTIBLES

C10 / MINT - Brand New, absolutely unmarred, all original, unused and unblemished.

C9 / NEAR MINT - Brand New all original, unused. Free of nicks and scratches. Original condition throughout. May evidence factory or shelf-wear rubs and the slightest evidence of handling or shipping.

C8 / LIKE NEW Complete and all original. May show effects of being on display and/or age and evidence of very light use.

C7 / EXCELLENT - Complete and all original. Apparent shelf-wear with minute scratches and/or nicks. No rust, no dents and no missing parts. No distortion of component parts. Evidence of light use.

C6 / FINE Light scratches and/or nicks, minute dents. Exceptionally clean. May have minor parts replaced. Signs of moderate play wear.

C5 / VERY GOOD - Signs of moderate play wear with scratches and minor paint loss. Few scratches and/or nicks. Small dents and / minor surface rust but mostly clean.

C4 / GOOD Scratches and/or nicks, small dents. Dirty with moderate paint loss. Surface rust. Evidence of heavy use. May be missing small parts

C3 / FAIR Requires major body repair. May be heavily scratched, nicked, chipped or dented, with major rust, missing parts or warped condition. Restoration candidate.

C2 / POOR Completely beat up. Could only be used / displayed after full restoration.

C1 / Very Poor junk condition - usable parts value only

Additionally, this list can be broken down with plus and minus to indicate somewhere between two strata.

 GAME GRADING GUIDELINES

We strive to describe games as accurately as possible. To that end, we have adopted these guidelines to help assure consistent grading and to help our customers understand what is meant by a particular grading. These guidelines were adapted from Peter T. Szymonik's eBay Board Game Collector Digest.

G7 / Mint: A game in like-new condition; un-punched and never played. The game's box may show very light wear from storage only. No rips, tears, stains or markings of any kind on any component. The game's original packaging must be complete and intact. Minor production flaws are acceptable if they are original to the game and clearly noted in the description.

G6 / Near-Mint: Same as G7 except for one minor flaw. As an example, the tokens have been removed from their sealed packages, or the rule sheet might have a crease. No tears, stains, or markings of any kind on any component; a game that would be otherwise perfect.

G5 / Excellent: A game that would be otherwise mint or near mint, except that it has been played one or two times. Some minor wear is allowed, but no rips, tears, or stains or markings can exist on any of the components. No edits, writing, highlighting or coloring anywhere on the rules or board. Must be 100% complete and the original packaging must be in excellent condition. These are games that have been extremely well cared for, even though they may have been played a few times.

G4 / Very Good: Games in this category have been played a few times, but are still well taken care of. Minor rips, tears, or stains are allowed and must be clearly noted. The game shows signs of wear, but nothing that would adversely affect game play. Board, tokens, cards, and the game box may show signs of handling wear. Minor dents on the game box are allowed, but no split corners, the box must be intact.

G3 / Good: Rips, tears, stains or markings allowed and the game's packaging may be well worn. Some cards or other original components may be missing, but the game still contains everything needed to play it. There may be a couple of substitute dice, a photocopy of the original rulebook, etc.

G2 / Fair: A game that in really bad shape. Played dozens of times, pieces missing, box is trashed. It dirty and may even smell bad. Enough may be missing to prevent the game from being played and it might only be good for spare parts.

G1 / Poor: You wonder how a game could have ever gotten into this condition. Mere shards of the original game remain, lots of missing components, the box is in tatters and has mold growing on it.

Additionally, this list can be broken down with plus and minus to indicate somewhere between two strata.

 GRADES FOR PAPER

(MAGAZINES, SHEET MUSIC, INSTRUCTION SHEETS) :

P4 / Excellent:

Magazines and Sheet Music - This is as near to intas it gets. No creases, very tight spine, clean pages, no staining. Highly collectible!

Other Paper Again, this is as near to intas it gets. Individual pages may have been opened, but the folds are crisp with no signs of damage.

P3 / Good:

Magazines and Sheet Music - This is still nice condition, but shows some wear from age, perhaps a bit of discoloration and light staining. Spines are well in tact and fairly tight, but not as if it just stepped off the newsstand. Could have slight fading, folding and light wear along the spine.

Other Paper - There may be some evidence of bending and folding or unfolding if original factory folded. All pages must be present. Page(s) may show additional (unoriginal) fold(s) or "dog-eared" page(s). Page(s) may have tears. Such tears, if repaired, must be done with archival tape.

P2 / Fair:

Magazines and Sheet Music - Still collectible condition, but spine could be a bit loose, there's more moderate discoloration from age and some tears are visible. Occasionally a page or two might have come loose from the spine. Some writing may be visible on the cover or internal pages and there may be light fading or staining. Notations from an auction, dealer, club member on the cover or interior page may be present.

Other Paper - Page(s) may be missing or loose and shall be so noted. The item may still be useable as reference material.

P1 / Heavily Worn:

Magazines and Sheet Music - We wouldn't sell it if it wasn't collectible, but this is very fragile. Many pages may be detached from the spine; front and back covers are loosely attached, if at all. There may be substantial fading and staining, and pages are often discolored from age. In this condition you're buying it because of its rarity or as a 'readable' copy

Other Paper - Item is so heavily damaged that it has little to no use as reference material.

Additionally, this list can be broken down with plus and minus to indicate somewhere between two strata.
