Siegel's is a member of the Jewelers of America (JA), the Better Business Bureau and the Iowa Jewelers Association. We offer one of the largest selections of new and pre-owned jewelry in the midwest and are committed to offer the best value to our customers. We have been a member of the community since 1940. Our rates have been among the lowest and we strive to provide the loan customer with personal and friendly help. Our goal is to treat every customer with respect, with no prejudices. History of Siegel's Jewelry and Loan, Inc.

Siegel's was started when Joseph (JD) Siegel bought a little trade shop from Louie Fine in 1940. "JD" ran the store along with his son Oscar until 1967. Oscar, who graduated college from the Univ of Minnesota ran the business till 1978. In 1978 the Siegel family moved back to Iowa . Jary, Ossie's son, went into the business and got his GIA diamond certification. After achieving his BA degree from the Univ of Arizona and spending 3 years in the stock brokerage business in California, Ossie's son Kenny came back to run the business in the summer of 1987. Siegel's has a history of providing the people of Cedar Rapids with a trusted and honest jeweler with a reputation of trying to keep every customer satisfied 100% of the time. In 2006 Siegel's has expanded their operation adding on an ebay dropoff and consignment business named ScoreBid. ScoreBid will handle all of the ecommerce, ebay store for Siegel's and consignment specializing in jewelry, antiques, estates, gold and silver coins, Rolex and classic watches and pocket watches, and most other items that people wish to sell through ebay. Ken is also a certified eBay teaching assistant.

History of Pawnbroking

Pawnbroking is the oldest form of consumer lending, with its origins stretching back to China 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. It was a well-developed industry by the Middle Ages. Everyone from the working poor to nobles resorted to pawnshops when in need of short term loans. Their borrowings were secured by providing assets ranging from clothing and tools to crowns and jewels. As is true today, the critical element to a pawnshops's success was the ability of the manager to judge the future value of an item pawned in order to se thee maximum amount that could be loaned.
