Dusty Covers Keepsakes Dusty Covers was created in honor of my Grandmother, Josephine. It has been up and running for over a year now. After my husband and I purchased her home 8 years ago, we were left with years and years of memories we cannot keep. My Grandmother was stricken with Alzheimer's Disease. As many of you know, people inflicted with this disease have a tendency to pack rat. She was in a facility for her care which costed lots of money, so we purchased her home to help fund her care. She was an amazing woman and this has been one of the most difficult things we've had to do. Growing up during the Depression, everything had value. We are trying to keep that alive by not throwing things out. This is the best form of recycling and its actually taken years to organize these things to even sell. With 3 small boys it's been very time-consuming. It is more of a labor of love than anything else. My Grandmother was a school teacher and a volunteer firefighter. She died a few years ago at age 91. She was a multi-faceted lady with deep historical roots in our community. She always believed in education and that everyday you should really learn something. When we found the stacks and stacks of magazines, as much as we wanted to close our eyes and put them on the curb - there was just no way. They are pieces of true Americana with historical value of their own right. There are tons of antiques and vintage items. My family has decided to share these treasures with you. We hope you enjoy them and learn from them in some way. Take some time to check out our store. You can feel free to ask some questions. If you don't see anything you like please tell a friend you think might. We would just like to find good homes for these little pieces of history. It sometimes can be frustrating doing business out here. It's all worth it when I have had numerous people e-mail us and say what these items mean to them. It's great to know some of these items will continue to be heirlooms.
