In case you're curious about the name, it's a semi-long story. It all started with my graduate advisor, an acknowledged punmaster. Working closely with him for over six years rubbed off on me, and I developed an affinity for plays-on-words. On my way home from work one evening I drove past a closed restaurant in the village. It was on the second floor of an old building. I wondered aloud about how cool it would be to have a bookstore in that space, except for lugging all those books up the stairs. Just then, the name for my dream shop popped into my head: 2nd Story Books. I would specialize in used books (thereby getting a second chance in life), and my store would be on the second story of the building. And there you have it.

We accept PayPal, money orders, and cashier's checks for payment. No personal checks, please. We ask that you inform us of your intended method of payment. Merchandise will be held until receipt/clearance of payment. We try to ship within one business day of payment receipt/clearance (Monday-Friday).

Unless specified otherwise, shipping within the continental United States is $3.50 for softcovers and $4.00 for hardcovers. We generally ship via media mail in the United States, which can take 4-12 days for delivery in the lower 48. Media mail deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico can take 3-5 weeks. 1st class/priority mail is available for an additional charge; please contact us for details.

Insurance is also available (upon buyer's request) for an additional fee ($1.65 for up to $50.00 coverage; $2.20 for $50.01-$100.00 coverage). Please be advised that we will not be responsible for lost, misdirected, or damaged merchandise shipped without insurance.
