Hi! I love to scrap! If you know what I am talking about, hello sister! If you dont, let me tell you how fun it is!!! Got kids? Got a spouse? Got animals? Love to travel? Then you got pictures! If you are like my family and friends, you have pictures sitting in boxes, drawers, totes and many other places you dont want Creative Memories to know about!
But let me tell you why you should at least get them in protected albums. You are going to die. Sorry if this is the first time you heard it, but it will happen. And the people you leave behind are going to have to clean up your stuff. More than likely, these pictures are going to get tossed in the garbage. If this makes you sad because you spent a butt-load (an official financial measurement) of money on film processing, or because you are just sentimental, then keep reading. If they are in albums, even just pocket albums, you may have a nice relative take them home and store them for you. BUT... if they are in albums that tell your life story..... well.... now they are heirlooms!!!!! Your great-great grandchildren can see your family in action and know who you were. I dont have that because my parents and grandparents, dont have their pictures in books with the story. Or the book is falling apart because the paper and glue has deteriorated over time.
Now, the mega-billion dollar per year scrapbook business has products that allow your albums to last for over 100 years!!! Glues, papers and albums that wont deteriorate. Film processing and digital photos that wont be gone in 50 years. WOW! So give your family after you a piece of yourself and sit down, put your pictures in albums and at least give them the dates and who was in the pictures. Then maybe they will say, "Gosh, thanks for not leaving me boxes of your stuff that I dont want so I can add to the nations landfills!!!".
I am a work-in-the-home (notice I dont say "stay-at-home" because even though I am in my home, I do anything but "stay" in one place) mother of two daughters with personalities as fiesty as mine. I have a wonderful husband of 10 years who supports my scrap-habit with love and affection (and occasionally some extra money). But I rely on eBay sales to bring in some extra cash for the fun stuff. So thanks for the support and God Bless you!
