Selling stuff on ebay has become somewhat of a hobby for me. A tip for any buyer: Never bid on anything without first running your sellers ID through toolhaus (toolhaus.org)
I'm a newlywed. I'm married to a Dutch/German scientist.
My husband was born and raised in the Netherlands. I was born and raised in Los Angeles county and lived there most of my life before I relocated to New York.
When I was pregnant, 2 ultrasounds said the baby was a girl, so I bought a ton of girl stuff. Months later I gave birth to a gorgeous boy.
I recently gave birth and just found out I am pregnant with another. Life is good.
I am 35 years old. Some days I feel old, some days I feel young. I have a feeling this is going to go on for quite some time...
I've always wished I could raise one eyebrow independent of the other. I saw Spock do it once on Star Trek and it just looked cool. As a child I use to practice in front of the mirror using tape to hold one eyebrow down. I was never successful in learning this fine skill.
I absolutely have a great love for science. Science is the best game in town in my opinion. Biology and entomology are my personal favorites.
I always pick the pretzels out of the chex mix. I don't understand why General Mills had to ruin a perfectly good chex mix by adding pretzels to it.
I am obsessed with music by Queen. Freddie Mercury was the man.
I love the soundtack to Xanadu. I don't care if people think I'm not cool. I love Xanadu!
I belong to a writers club. We meet once a week and share what we've been working on (come to think of it we mostly socialize).
I hope to publish a childrens book someday. I write childrens stories as a hobby.
I have always felt like I was going to die in a plane crash however I have no fear of flying and I travel often.
I am allergic to portobello mushrooms and bees. I carry an epi pen.
I was once attacked by a chicken on a farm in Northern Italy. To this day I eat chicken with great pleasure. Compared to chickens, vegetables are rather friendly. I see no reason to boil them until they are soft and squishy.
I love to skydive.
I have a strange fascination with the Amish.
I'm fairly tall for a female (5'9)
There is something about the combination of chocolate and peanut butter that appeals to me.
Years ago I developed alcohol poisoning after drinking numerous glasses of white wine. To this day, even the smell of white wine makes me queasy.
I have 12 brothers and sisters.
I think Beethoven symphony #9 was the greatest thing ever written by man.
I sneeze (once) whenever I'm excited. It's an oddity.
I have a tendency to get severe migraines once in a while. Zomig and a dark, quiet room are my best friends on those days.
I'm addicted to sugar. The more sugar I eat, the more I crave. The more I crave, the more I eat. It's a vicious cycle. My sugar addiction is suffocating and controlling. Sugar will be the downfall of Western Civilization
My favorite classes were always the science ones. Where else can you blow stuff up for credit? I also really enjoyed philosophy and logic. David Hume was a favorite of mine. My least favorite class was history. I hated memorizing all those dates.
When I'm watching television I usually have the attention span of a soapdish and change the channel quite frequently. Nobody likes watching TV with me anymore.
I have a deep desire to give birth to twins someday. It is my dream of all dreams to be the mother of multiples.
I like Indonesian food. My favorite Indonesian restaurant is in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
Years ago I joined the Lorquin Entomological society (I can no longer attend meetings as they are held at the museum of natural history in Los Angeles and I'm now in NY - a tad far). I love bugs and I hope my kids inherit my fascination with the insect world. I would love to raise a future entomologist.
Right now I am in the process of reading 2 books simultaneously, writing one, keeping up with one of my blogs (while my other blog fades off into oblivion), and I'm thinking of designing a bug website. In other words I completely lack focus. Its the bane of my existence.
"Parasite Rex" is one of my favorite books and I recommend it to anyone interested in Parasitology.
My favorite writer of non science material is Voltaire. I think Voltaire must have been fond of chocolate, he mentions it in all of his books.
I am not the least bit religious.
I kind of like the quote: "The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church."
Whenever I go to Burger King I always order the number 9 (original chicken sandwich combo).
I always eat my ice cream out of a coffee mug. Never a bowl. I have no idea why I do this.
I have always been attracted to redheads.
I have always been attracted to men who wear glasses. Dead sexy.
I like pie.
And cake.
