Original drop spindle on wood, new ones are only clay
|
Saying I have a large family is an understatement! I have a house full and then some. But when I'm not at work - I'm here. My total obsession. Making Drop Spindles with my own ideas (and others thoughts), polymer clay, wood, and hopefulness (yes, that's my word today) that they will always turn out. Making polymer clay things on wood is not an easy thing to do. And when you top that with the fact that I only make ONE of each of them. Well, then I am really sad when I have to throw one out.
There will never be any duplicates on my spindles. I try to make a few just slightly different (that way I know at least one will turn out). And then I move on to another color or design. I'm working on creating new designs all the time. I also rely on a few Polymer clay artist. My mother - valleytreasures (makes some beautiful flowers and scrap canes), Kennicka - makes some wonderful animals and other polymer clay items, and beadgoodies= Candice Mathewson - has more beautiful flowers and butterflies. |

New spindles with clay only,,,
|
While I mentioned the other polymer clay artists I like to use, I had not mentioned someone helping me in my spindle making adventures. Ruth MacGregor has become a great help to me. You can learn more about her at her website posted below. When I started this I really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. But I did know that I wanted these spindles to work - not just look pretty. Ruth purchased my first spindles and has helped me improve on them. While I would still like to be able to spin - that is not an accomplishment that see myself finishing any time soon. One rock at a time....right. If you enjoy spinning or you are just learning the "how to" - you really must check out her site.
