A Little Bio
At turn of the century, after developing
the dreaded
addiction of
eBayitis, I scoured the house for supplements to cure my cravings. My
junk closet netted about a grand. I was on the prowl. My family, 6 of
them, soon learned to hide their precious, messily distributed
belongings.
Stuff, stuff and more stuff, amassed over 5 kids
and 21
years of marriage, needed a new home. Still in good condition,
remembering how much they originally cost, I decided it wasn't goodwill
time for "stuff" just yet! Those once beloved toys that you trip over
occasionally, earned my first huge profits. And like magic, my feet no
longer ached from skating across the kitchen floor with a lego and a
hot wheel underfoot!
Kids started putting their treasured belongings
away. Garage sales took on a whole new meaning to me; estate sales,
auctions, thrift shops, just about any place quality goods could be
found.
After selling items for someone else, word soon
got out; this
consignment shop was born. My feedback rose quickly, I was doing a good
job. In 2003, this gal needed a break. As a mom of five kids, [supermom
me? NOT] , but super busy I was, and just couldn't find the time to get
it all done.
Life has slowed down a little. Down to raising
only 2 teens, I now have lots more time on my hands; so, I am back in
business. I
changed the name of my business to SECONDHANDRESALE mostly because I've
done some research on running a real business. Like a bricks and mortar
location, one's web location, is all in its' name. Having a real
website is a lot of work; while frustrating at times, it's still fun
learning new things. For instance, the comment in the header "best viewed in browser except IExplorer," still, after a week, I cannot find a cure for my HTML/CSS IE bug. SEO, web development, marketing; the list isn't
getting shorter anytime soon. Journaling, research, and
writing, things I enjoy; seems like a natural extension to
combine them all. The ole writing
skills may need some polishing, and that is a work in
progress; but in the end, its the message that counts (and delivering
it
in a coherent fashion !)
