Back to previous page  COLLECTOR OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS 'The Music Man' Music has been my passion since the age of 12 when my uncle gave me my first trombone. At 17, I was leading my own dance band,playing all the popular tunes of the 30's and 40's. Working my way thru college as an assistant in an instrument repair shop gave me my love and understanding of fine brass horns. It is time, now that I am retired, to downsize this huge collection and, although I'm willling to do it, it will be little by little. They are hard to part with.   MY COLLECTION I have 4000 sq ft of basement storage space and hundreds of horns hanging from the rafters. I will do my best to describe them to a tee and if I say it is 'near perfect', it truly is. If not, it will be duly noted so the buyer knows what he is bidding on. Normal wear and tear, nicks and scratches and dents will be described to the best of my ability. It is difficult to purchase a horn without holding it in your own hands but I am a trumpet and trombone player as well as other brass horns and understand them. My reed instruments are played by the sax and clarinet man in our current jazz group that has played together for over thirty years. Occasionally I will be putting non-musical items on our auction. Like I said, it is time to downsize. We do go south every winter and will probably continue selling from there. I figure it should take a good two years to empty this big house!
