How I got started
How I got started:
I've been an eBay member since December of
1999. In November of 2000 I quit my job at a local bank after months of
understaffing and overworking. I had decided to look for a part-time job
rather than a full-time job so that we could more easily get our housework and
other necessary at-home "things" done. While I was out shopping one day I
found authentic Detroit Red Wings hockey jerseys. They were a great
price and it gave me the idea of trying them on eBay. I purchased a few
and they all sold. I never got a part time job, not one where someone else
set my hours and wage anyway. In December of 2000 I became my own boss and
have never looked back.
Who I am:
I have been married since 1997 to the
man I turned down for his senior prom. Yes, that's true. We live in
Michigan in a small town between Grand Rapids and the Lake Michigan lakeshore.
I've lived here all my life, even graduated from a local University. Some
may say I need to get out more, but I'm very content. I am a stay-at-home
mom to just one little girl. I never thought I'd be a mom to an only child
but God has other plans, a realization I came to know after my diagnosis with
Multiple Sclerosis in
November of 2004. This is a great job for me as it allows for me to work
around unexpected downfalls and health "bumps in the road".
Why I like selling so much:
Frankly, I love the shopping aspect of the
process. Scrounging estate sales, live auctions, garage sales and thrift
stores is like treasure hunting to me. I love digging through boxes and
finding all the things I am going to sell. Second only to that is matching
the buyers up to items they have been searching all over for. I love to
know that my buyers are thrilled with their purchases.
What do I sell:
Ironically, I do no crafts at all (unless they
involve macaroni and construction paper...*smile*) but sell all kinds of craft
books and patterns. I also sell collectible items and a variety of books.
Of course, if I got a great deal tomorrow on something else, I'd sell that, too.
You never know what you'll find here.
Deals and steals:
In early 2006 I started a deal for my
buyers. Any buyer that purchases 7 or more media mail items gets free
media mail shipping with international buyers getting the domestic media cost
deducted from their shipping cost as well. I plan to continue that offer
indefinitely as it has been a success.
