Hi, thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you will find this brief description useful and that it will provide you with the confidence to bid on my auctions or buy direct from my shop.
Background:
I have been interested in progressive and electronic rock music for as long as I can remember and have built up a large and varied collection with lots of memorabilia from numerous concerts over the years.
As with a lot of ebayers, I started on this journey looking for specialist items that I was interested in and which were not generally available in the high street shops. This naturally evolved to the stage where I decided to try selling a few of my own items. That was particularly successful and inspired me to expand my selling attempts.
Recently, I have started buying items to sell on. This has been a challenge as not all sellers take as great a pride in their products as I do in mine. Unfortunately, this has led to one or two problems, such as prepackaged items being found to be substandard when opened, but I am pleased to say that in the main my customers have been very good when this has happened and we have been able to resolve any issues to our mutual satisfaction.
Now, I have taken the plunge and opened a shop as well. Here you will find a great mix of things that are not necessarily going to be available in auctions, as well as special promotional sections.
I only do my selling on ebay in my spare time (I have a full time job which also keeps me very busy), so sometimes I am not able to respond as fast as people might like and I apologise in advance if that happens to you.
My Policy:
I take great pride in ensuring that you will want to come back time and again ~ see my high feedback score as evidence of this, over 50% of my customers have bought again.
I am also continually on the lookout for good quality items to sell, so, if you are having a clear out or know someone who is, let me know by mailing me via ebay and we will see what arrangement we can come to.
I do not leave feedback until after I have received feedback from buyers. This is because I have known several instances where buyers have left unfavourable feedback for sellers without contacting them first to try and resolve any issues. Unfortunately, this has also happened to me on the few negative and neutral feedback items I have had, which you can see have been left by a very small number of people (6 at the last count).
I would request that if a buyer has any complaints they mail me directly, before leaving neutral or negative feedback, so that we can determine how to resolve the issue.
This is the area which generates the most enquiries, both for me and for a number of other sellers, and which I believe is least understood.
Postage and Packing does not just cover the cost of the postage stamps and any recorded delivery / insurance.
I buy packaging materials, often including new CD and DVD cases, envelopes / wallets, labels and printer inks, none of which are particularly cheap.
I pay both ebay and Paypal fees for all my items. These fees have a minimum level which I need to cover - otherwise what is the point of selling the item !
I spend a considerable amount of time preparing the adverts, responding to questions / emails and then packaging items which have been sold (I am quite often up until the early hours of the morning doing this).
Then of course, there are the daily trips to and from the Post Office, which is 5 miles from where I live and work, to ensure the speediest despatch of items - I make a small allowance on each item to cover that time and fuel cost.
As a result of this approach I am able to keep the individual item price down to a reasonable level and distribute these expense elements fairly.
I price my items at the lowest I can to start with, unless I am having a 'special' in which case they may start even lower than normal. This, with my approach on postage and packing, means that I do not have a great deal of leeway to discount on multiple items. However, in these cases, I do endeavour to assess the overall sale to see if any discounting is possible.
Recently, I have been experimenting with the options ebay has for offering postage discounts to see if that will help address this point more efficiently. This seems to be satisfactory for internal sales to the UK but not so effective for sales abroad.
I prefer you to use paypal as it provides us both with security and various guarantees
- If you pay by any means other than paypal, I cannot be responsible if the payment is lost in the post.
- If you pay by cheque or postal order, I have to charge another 32p for postage to my bank / time at the post office, respectively
- If you pay by cheque I will not despatch the item until the cheque has been in my account for five working days
As a result of the number of people who have bid and then not paid for items, I feel it is necessary to explain my stance on this situation as well.
- Ebay charges me for listing and selling items. They will only refund these charges upto 45 days after auction or sale completion.
- I will normally send a chase up after 7 days
- After a further 7 days I will send a final chase up
- 7 days after that I will issue an ebay non payment dispute - if the buyer does not respond to that, ebay will give them a non payment strike.
Problems and their resolution
I will try as hard as I can to resolve any reasonable problems or concerns. However there are some basic elements that I cannot do anything about, as follows:
- Payments lost in the post (see above)
- Shipped items lost in the post (unless you have paid for them to be sent recorded delivery / courier)
- Items damaged in the post unless you have paid to have them insured
If something is faulty, I will try and replace it, if I have / can find a suitable replacement. If not, then I will refund your money once I have received the item back. I have had instances where I have refunded the money and the goods have not been returned.
If we agree to a refund or if you decide not to proceed with a purchase, I will send an ebay dispute to you, to enable that transaction to be made null and void. This dispute will not affect your or my ratings but is a way of ensuring a proper record of the closure is kept and avoids any potential misunderstandings at a later date. Once you agree the closure dispute, all obligations are ended.
I hope that this policy will enable you to have a clear and pleasant experience when bidding at my auctions or buying from my shop and give you the peace of mind to return again.
Thank you for your time in reading this, have fun, live long and prosper! :o)
