Some of My Many Hobbies

I collect and/or enjoy comics, photography, dollhouse miniatures, science fiction, books, movies, tv shows, business cards, postcards, tin boxes, Matyrushka dolls, stuffed critters, the occasional action figure, music (albums and CDs: oldies, classic rock, folks, filk, show tunes). I also write and I'm working on a science fiction novel I hope to have published someday.

Above all, I'm a chocoholic.

About My Auctions and Some Tips

I am offering up items I've collected over the years that I no longer want or that have been given to me. They are as stated in the descriptions. If you don't understand something or want further explanation, please use the contact seller button and ask me. I'll be happy to answer any questions.

I prefer PayPal, but will consider payment by money orders if you ask in advance.

Helpful Hints for Bidding and Buying:

• See if the seller has FAQs. If so, it's a good idea to read them before bidding or asking questions about the auctions. The answer might be right there and you can get it more quickly.


• You shouldn't bid unless you are absolutely sure you want or need the item and are willing to pay promptly for it. Remember, eBay considers a bid a committment to buy.


• Spend time learning how to use eBay. It didn't take me long to realize I needed to read eBay's many well-done help screens and to peruse the message boards to gain insight into the ins and outs of bidding, buying, and selling on eBay. By taking that time, you can learn to avoid some pitfalls of the process.


• Don't bid on more than one of the same thing at the same time, unless you want more than one. Don't worry about missing out if you get outbid. Odds are if you wait a few days or weeks, another copy of the item will show up on eBay and possibly at a better starting price. I've been amazed at how often some "rare, will never be found" items keep getting put up for auction. ;)


• If you are planning to buy the item as a gift for someone, do yourself and the seller a favor and make sure the intended giftee doesn't already have the item and that he or she would want it. Asking for bids to be cancelled can be stressful for both bidder and seller, especially if it's late in the auction and you can't make contact with the seller. And if you're the only bidder, the cancelled bid really means cancelling a sale and that's a disappointment for the seller.


• Pay promptly. The sooner you pay, the sooner your item is likely to be shipped to you and the less likely you'll forget to pay. Having a clean record on eBay is a good thing. I routinely check the ratings of bidders on my auctions. I'm sure all the sellers of items I've bid on have been checking me out, too.


• Read the terms of the auction. If you want to know if the seller can make exceptions, ask before bidding, not after. In my case, I really don't want to make selling more work than I can confidently handle in a reasonable amount of time. I want to get your items to you if you're the winner as soon as possible. I've set up my shipping requirements to minimize the time it takes for me to get the items in the mail. I have a full-time job with varying hours and have limited time to deal with the USPS. I might be able to make other arrangements with bidders/winners, but that's at my discretion. I won't do anything that I don't expect to be able to easily accomplish in a timely fashion.
