Thank you so much for coming to sidneytocolby auctions and our about me page.  I am going to use this page for a few things.  I hope to clear up who we are and what we hope to accomplish as well as our current and future plans.  I am going to give you some background on us, a list of our experiences, our goals and plans, and I hope to update regularly what our listing plans are.

First of all, let me start out by telling you about us.  I personally started collecting cards in 1987 after I got sick of Garbage Pail Kids.   I LOVED garbage paid kids.   I still have tons.  They were and are fun.  I began buying cards because they were always next to Garbage Pail Kids on the Shelves.  I collected, traded, and sold with family, friends, and dealers until I reached High School in the early 90’s.  I had a teacher who was also the “big shot” of the local card world in my area.   He took me under his wing and taught the business.  I had a store for a few years until I let that go for ebay.  I began selling on ebay and have never looked back. 

Let me say we LOVE ebay!  You often hear people at shows complain about different aspects of ebay.  I would like to say…. The good aspects of ebay FAR out weight the bad aspects of ebay.  In any business, you have theft and problems.  No matter what business you do, there will be 1 bad transaction out of a thousand.  We often forget about the 999 good ones.  The bottom line is, we sell Cards for a living.  As a kid, many of us dreamt about the bottom of the ninth inning, playing in the Super Bowl, opening up a card shop, scoring the final shot at the buzzer.   Well, I am vertically challenged, so professional sports were never in my future.  However, I am very good at buying and selling sports cards and I LOVE it!   I don’t like sounding cheesy, but I am living the dream.   I play with baseball cards for a living. 

Our user ID is sidneytocolby because we LOVE the penguins.  We go to a bunch of games a year.  I would go to all of them, but we are over an hour away and business doesn’t always let us get there.  Sidneytocolby represents Sidney Crosby to Colby Armstrong.  Obviously you all know why we like Sidney Crosby.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Colby Armstrong, he is a great player and an even better entertainer.  His stats are never going to be great, but he does all the intangibles.  He digs and skates hard on every shift.  He does all the little things and does them well.  This is why our user ID is sidneytocolby. 

Now, what we do.   We travel the country buying collections, boxes, singles, anything we can.  Many of you have probably seem me at shows.   I travel thousands of miles a year buying cards.  I buy them at shows and stores and sell them here on ebay.  When I say I have access to many things, I mean I have access to many, many cards.  If you need or want anything, anything at all, please email me and ask.  If I have it or I can find it, I will list it on ebay with a buy it now. 

Something I run into on a weekly basis is different users emailing me when a card gets listed in an attempt to buy the card right away off line.   Let me tell everyone right now that I do not do this.  I care greatly about my ebay account and I refuse to do anything that might jeopardize my status with ebay.   In my discussions with my ebay rep, I am attempting to learn everything that makes us one of the best sellers on ebay.  I believe that when you end an auction early, you open the door to upset other ebay users that may be watching that same card.  Now, if I make a mistake in my listing of an auction, I always appreciate a user pointing my mistakes out to me.  And, I do make mistakes.   So thank you to all of you who have helped making sure my listings are as accurate as they can be. 

My shipping & handling prices.  I know there are people out there that get frustrated with the prices of shipping & handling.  I know this and for those of you who are upset about this, I am deeply sorry.  With that said, I have no choice.   Let me take this opportunity to attempt to explain why I charge what I charge.  When listing thousands of auctions, you rely on programs and process.  If you don’t have a smooth running process, it is impossible to deliver the goods in a timely manner to the customer.  My s&h charges are the same for everyone.  Everyone pays the same exact prices.  That makes it easy for invoices, questions, calculating incoming payments, and keeping records.  If I was to make an exception for someone, that throws a kink into my entire system.  This isn’t a one person show.  We rely on each other to accomplish our ebay goals.  If the charges change, it makes it impossible for us to complete all the tasks that need done on a daily basis.  Also, there are many fees associated in packaging an order.  With everything going on, I do not have time to do it myself.  There are packaging fees, packaging supplies, hours of time, and postage.  I know it is frustrating for some of you, the only thing I can hope for is that you read and understand all the charges before you place your bids and you understand why I must charge the prices that I charge. 

In closing, I love this.  I really love this.  I get excited when I see a neat card.   I get excited when others around me get excited.  Trust me when I say that I enjoy this just as much if not more than all of you do.
