I started collecting and cutting rocks over 40 years ago. We live in Southwest Idaho and collect rock in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. We specialize in agates, opals and jaspers. During the 1970's we discovered many picture jasper deposits. Some with large quantities of rock and some with very little. One of our mines that carries a nice quantity of quality picture jasper is the CRIPPLE CREEK PICTURE JASPER mine.
We have made many discoveries in the past and are still actively finding new rock today. One of our most recent favorite finds is ROCKY CANYON JASPER. I felt like this was a new discovery, but it came from an old dig that was previously called CARRASITE. The reason I wanted to change the name was because the new find was of such better quality than the old Carrasite, but after using the Rocky Canyon name for a few years, I was informed that there was a jasper coming from California that had that name first. So, I will call this jasper Carrasite from now on. This rock has a Morrisonite look to it. If you like Morrisonite you will like CARRASITE JASPER. In the 1970's we started mining heavily and cutting and polishing stones and selling at a wholesale level. The past 10 years I have been silver smithing and selling hand crafted jewelry, mounting our stones in gold and silver. I now realize that I have many more stones than I will ever have time to mount, so we offer you these premium stones from old and new stock, direct from our personal collection. We hope you enjoy these beautiful stones as much as we do.
WILDHORSE, ROCKY BUTTE, CRIPPLE CREEK, OWYHEE PICTURE JASPERS are all found in the Owyhee Mountains along the Oregon/Idaho border.
OWYHEE BLUE OPAL comes from one of our own mines in the Owyhee Mountains. The beautiful blue opal is slightly translucent and is a little harder that most opals. It makes beautiful cabs and jewelry.
BRUNEAU JASPER is found along the Bruneau River Canyon in Southern Idaho.
WILLOW CREEK JASPER comes from a mine about 20 - 30 miles Northwest of Boise.
MORRISONITE JASPER also known as MORRISON RANCH JASPER is located in Southeastern Oregon.
GRAVEYARD POINT PLUME comes from the Plume beds just outside of Homedale, Idaho in Southwestern Idaho.
