We are located at the the end of the Oregon Trail in the Portland Oregon metropolitan area. We are a small, woman owned and operated company that got started after a dream about my cat Molly and the LitterMaid, and in the dream was what eventually became the Slide & Toss. With a lot of support from my friends Phyllis and Lorraine, I took the big step of trying to make a product out of this, despite my ambivalence about the risk, time and tremendous cost associated with it. I also struggled with the temptation of having the Slide & Toss produced overseas, and decided that I had to follow my own convictions and had the trays produced here in the USA. We are happy that the Slide & Toss has been very well received, and hope that it will make caring for your pet easier. It gives me great pleasure to receive feedback that users are finding the product useful and easy to use.
A Word About Shipping
We ship via US Postal Service with Delivery Confirmation Numbers and notify you via e-mail when we schedule shipping. Delivery Confirmation Number is not the same as a Tracking Number used by UPS. USPS typically does not scan the item at the point of shipment, and in most cases, does not scan the item until it is delivered. Therefore the USPS on-line site may indicate that they have only been "electronically notified" of shipping for several days. This does not necessarily mean the item has not been shipped. Occasionally it may get scanned "in-transit" at a sorting center along the way. If this is the case, the date displayed at the USPS site is not necessarily the day it was shipped.
If you receive notification that it was scanned in Clackamas, Oregon; Oregon City, Oregon; or Portland, Oregon, then it probably is the date of shipping, or the first business day after the item is dropped off at the Post Office, especially if it is a weekend or holiday.
Unless it is insured, we are unable to do anything about lost packages. The Post Office will not investigate uninsured lost packages.
International Purchasers - We are not able to track packages.
A current user who recently purchased the Elite had the following way of modifying the Elite and Slide & Toss so that it will be compatible. We were able to duplicate the result with good results. It will take some work, however.
Two modifications need to be made to
both left and right sides of the waste compartment area.1) The top bar has to be removed.
2) Bottom bar has to be shortened and trimmed.
Cut off top bar at arrows.
(shown with cuts already made)The bottom bar can be cut off as well.
However, this will make it very difficult to
go back to using the disposable trays. The following instructions will preserve
the ability to use the disposable trays.Remove the vertical tab (extension) on top of the
bottom bar - to about 1.25" from the side.It is shown already removed in the picture.
Trim off 1/8" off the ends of the bottom bar. File, or sand off all sharp edges.
You will need to seal the holes in the hinged lid. Plugs supplied with the Slide & Toss will not fit. We no longer stock special plugs that will plug the holes. One user closed it by taping heavy plastic (like those used by membership/credit cards or bubble packaging) on top of the holes.
Shown is the "lip" on the back of the tray (left
side).Trim (or file off) 1/32" off both left and right sides.
Shown after trimming. After trimming both sides, test fit the tray.
Make, further adjustments if necessary.
File, or sand off, sharp edges.
PLEASE NOTE:
1) The hinged lid will not open completely with the Slide & Toss in place. However this should not interfere with the raking/cleaning action, as the range of motion is more than adequate for this purpose. We recently had one case where this was a problem. If this is a problem for you, please see sections 4 and 5.
2) The hinged lid of the LitterMaid, if removed, cannot be re-fastened with the Slide & Toss in place. If you remove the hinged lid, you will have to re-fasten it with the Slide & Toss removed.
Shown without hinged lid for illustrative purposes.
The cat ramp should lock the Slide & Toss flush to the crossbar on the LitterMaid.
If it disengages, some of the causes may be: 1) placement on carpet 2) placement of the unit on an uneven surface, 3) there is insufficient removal of the vertical tab (see section 1, part 3)
Recently there appears to be more variability in the production of the LitterMaid which is causing problems for some customers. The narrow bar that runs all the way along the bottom of the litter tray seems to be bowing out, which keeps the Slide & Toss from seating all the way. While one customer was able to "fix" this, it is not easy to do. If you look at your LitterMaid Elite and if there is significant bowing of this narrow bar, it is not recommended that you make the modification.
Shown at the point of maximum opening within the raking cycle.
However due to LitterMaid manufacturing variability, we had one case where it did not open fully, thereby restricting operation of the rake. If this is the case, the procedures outlined in section 5 must be followed.
Ideally, there should be additional play of the lid as shown
This modification will already be done if you purchase the Elite Modified Slide & Toss after Jan 10, 2007
If increased range of motion of the lid is needed,
mark the point where the hinge of the LitterMaid lid contacts the Slide & Toss.Though the ramp is removed for better illustration, the contact point is better determined with the ramp in place as the ramp will lock the Slide & Toss in position.
Notch 1/8" deep at Blue Line
Shown after notching - approx 1/8" deep
Adjust, if necessary
PLEASE NOTE:
1) The hinged lid of the LitterMaid, if removed, cannot be re-fastened with the Slide & Toss in place. If you remove the hinged lid, you will have to re-fasten it with the Slide & Toss removed.
