Smokey the Fire Prevention Bear

Books and Bears - two of my great passions. I have been selling books for over 5 years. I now have 3 eBay stores: specializing in Smokey Bear Smokeys Hometown Gifts, Billy the Kid books Billy the Kid Books, and Northern California books and ephemera Bear Republic Books. Smokey Bear and Billy the Kid are both New Mexico celebrities. My husband and I lived in Capitan, New Mexico for several years where we owned a bookstore, before returning to our native state California. Capitan is truly Smokeys hometown; he was found as a cub during a fire in 1950 before be became a celebrity and moved to Washington National Zoo. Billy the Kid was a major character in the Lincoln County War, which occurred in 1881 in Lincoln NM about 10 miles east of Capitan. The town today is in a state of preservation. A must see for western lore lovers. |
