(a) About my "AUCTIONS",
(b) About my ITEMS,
(c) About my LISTINGS.
After reading "About Me", eBay members should feel comfortable about sending money to me, a total stranger, who may be located anywhere in the world, for an auction item represented by only a picture and my most reassuring words and descriptions.
This section has supporting information about snappysales1 (Jessica S, Naples, FL), the business and items for sale, to reassure members that snappysales1 listings are 100% accurate and reliable. With millions of eBay sellers insisting their "super-deals" are the best, supplementary information in "about me" notes help a buyer feel safer bidding on snappysales1 listings in eBay auctions. This is particularly important to me to help my items stand out from the millions of others available on line. I'm selling my own property ... some pieces I've owned for years. I'm a brand name buyer - good quality items are less expensive in the long run and more fun to use; I avoid generics - they are NOT the same thing! I need every buyer to KNOW they're getting top value with each snappysales1 purchase. "Top value" rarely comes with a cheapest price.
What's for sale? I'm selling a lifetime accumulation of "stuff". Each item was purchased for a reason: I liked it, I needed it, or owning it felt better than not. Almost everything was used by me only. (I don't share tools - or baseball gloves). Almost all items are in excellent or mint condition (or unused/new). Any defects, deviations, discrepancies will be noted in the listing description.
Then there's the artwork...
PART I: The ARTWORK left to me by my parents: My parents were intellectuals and art lovers. They left me their "treasures". The artwork is the main reason for "snappysales1" selling on eBay, but in 4 months I've listed and sold only 4 pieces of artwork. Instead, I've been selling my own items - exotic model car kits, 1:43 scale model cars, railroad lamps, and SNAP-ON TOOLS - everything but artwork!
I have an entire estate of artwork to sell on eBay. It took a special trip, an SUV w/trailer, and a week of packing with friends to relocate every piece safely to FL from NY. Each item has a bit of history and I can guarantee the authenticity of all the pieces. Selling art is not easy for me. I have little to no interest in the Arts. I like pretty colors and have an eye for quality. That's it! I can look at tools and model cars all day, but researching a painting in order to price it properly gives me a case of HIVES!
PART II: Everything that is NOT artwork! TOOLS and COLLECTIONS: A lifetime accumulation of "my stuff"`- LIFETIME COLLECTOR (I'm moving): - It's time to SELL!
A large portion of the items I'm selling is tools and equipment - objects used by people who work with their hands. In "my other life" I was a dentist by profession. My hobbies included jewelry making, model cars, classic cars, fixing things. I've had a lifetime appreciation of TOOLS and mechanical items - High quality tools are a necessity. (I avoid breakable items).

CONDITION: Some of my "NEW" items may have rested undisturbed in a drawer for 20 years. They are "UNUSED". I will list them this way. My "USED" items are legitimately "LIKE NEW"/"LOW USE"/"MINT"/"USED ONCE" (OR TWICE)/"LIGHT USE". Rare exceptions will be clearly noted and explained in the description. It is exactly what it says it is!
PHOTOS: My listing pictures show overview plus areas I would look at in person if I were evaluating an unknown item to buy. These are typical areas of wear, articulating surfaces, joints, defects, etc. If an item I'm selling seems more expensive than like items being sold on eBay, you'll see where mine is the better value. If there are post purchase surprises, they will all be good ones.
Snappysales1 and SPECIAL "CUSTOMER SERVICE": Snappysales1 is ensconced in that small area beneath the upper 1% of the normal curve. We don't expect "normal", "mundane", "commonplace" from ourselves, our customers, or daily events when our chart position shows that's likely to happen only 1% of the time. Snappysales1 is DIFFERENT. Every auction, every person, every transaction is special. We expect this because it's contagious - we bring it with us everywhere we go. We appreciate every customer, every auction, every day as the special unique experience it is and react accordingly. There are no dull moments; no dissatisfied customers. That's special customer service.
***Return Policy*** Bid with confidence! Satisfaction guaranteed! 100% 7 day money back returns policy. You may return any item as it was received for a money back refund within 7 days of receipt of purchase. Contact me first for return instructions.
"About ME" Snappysales1: more PERSONAL personal information: I was born (in 1942) to intellectual parents who loved the Arts; I loved trucks, machines and tools. Instead of dolls, I slept with a toy truck. I hated dresses and lived in dungarees from age 3 or 4 to the present. I wasn't precocious - I was practical - and 40 years ahead of time with an early appreciation of freedom from restrictions.
It's not that I wanted to be difficult. I just was not "SUGAR and SPICE" - I was ADHD! Try being ADHD in a dress!
My parents, good "intellectuals", wanted a ballerina. They got a COWBOY TRUCK MECHANIC - but in a dress? NO WAY!
One of me was more than enough for them!
In my "other life", before moving to FL from NY in 1990, I was a dentist with two practices until osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease sped up my "retirement" in 1986.
I started out as an only child baby boomer. Although it's hard to believe, I've become a little old lady - with CATS!
Not everything in my life is cold hardware. I love my cats!
I still hate dresses!
ABOUT SHIPPING:
DOMESTIC:
(1) Free domestic shipping: items over $30 that fit into a flat rate Priority Mail envelope or small box.
(2) Discounted or shared shipping fees: For INTERNATIONAL BUYERS; for more expensive items and/or heavier items that don't fit flat rate boxes. These SPECIAL SHIPPING DISCOUNTS, if any, will be listed in the item description. For anything other than "FREE SHIPPING" (where NO FEE is charged for shipping), the normal fee will be listed.
(3) ALL SPECIAL (SHIPPING) DISCOUNTS MUST BE WRITTEN INTO THE INVOICE AND SUBTRACTED BEFORE THE INVOICE IS PAID! EBay fees are subtracted from the net amount paid for the item AFTER shipping fees and discounts are applied. If a discount is given AFTER the invoice is paid, the corresponding portion of eBay fees IS NOT subtracted. We don't all pay by the invoice - NOT good for the seller.
INTERNATIONAL: Shipping items to other countries presents unique "challenges":
1) Each country has different customs requirements and different insurance limits.
(2) PayPal requires a proof of delivery for its "seller guarantee". USPS Priority Mail does NOT OFFER proof of delivery to Canada! PayPal cannot change this requirement. Only Express Mail gives this proof of delivery but its pricing is prohibitive!
(3) Insurance is NOT AVAILABLE for ALL USPS FLAT RATE INTERNATIONAL PRIORITY MAIL.
(4) SHIPPING FEES VARY from country to country, making it difficult to offer flat rate shipping fees for international shipments.
ABOUT INSURANCE: Despite claims of some sellers to the contrary, responsibility for safe delivery of each item remains the seller's until the purchase is delivered intact and unharmed to the buyer. If an item arrives damaged, the seller must replace it or give the buyer a full refund.
SHIPPING INSURANCE PROTECTS THE SELLER. If an item arrives damaged PayPal will refund the entire purchase fee to the buyer. Most shipments over $250.00 will be insured. If any item arrives damaged the recipient must make the original package and wrappings available to the insurance adjuster. The insurer needs to examine the "remains" to fix liability for the damage - so the seller can be repaid after PayPal has repaid the buyer.
SHIPPING REALITY: The REAL COST of shipping: The BUYER pays the actual shipping fee charged by the Post Office.
The seller pays for EVERYTHING ELSE such as:
· Shipping boxes - (can be $10+ for 1 box for large fragile items)
· Packing materials (peanuts, bubble wrap, tape, etc)
· Gas (to and from the Post Office)
· Shipping insurance
· Proofs of delivery and other special services.
· TIME
ABOUT QUALITY, PRICING, and PERCEIVED VALUE: Completed auctions give a ballpark price average. New items may be discounted from the retail price. Anything not new is difficult to price. Most items I sell are in varying forms of mint condition. All are individual items; most are 5 to 10 or more years of age. Most are new, unused, used once, lightly used, etc. The average condition of these items is excellent and the average listing price should reflect this difference. Buyers will more often see my pricing as "HIGHER than average" and less often as "LOWER" than average. This perception is accurate. My prices will be higher than the average when my auction items are newer, used less, of better quality and a better brand. My higher priced item will be a better buy than any other listed item of lesser quality and lower price. For each sale I try to match the price to the condition and value of the item for sale. When this hasn't been achieved (as indicated by a lack of interest in the item), I find myself "revising" the price of my active listing downward. Price revisions will always be lower. Shrewd buyers take care of undervalued listings very quickly.
The First ("About me" from 9/2008):
|
Previously only a BUYER for several years; now I've switched 180 degrees to become exclusively a SELLER {Some of us find it difficult to walk and chew gum at the same time!}
What was the reason for this sudden and complete switch?
I found myself surrounded by artwork - a LOT of artwork: Ceramics, Paintings, Crystal, Antiques, etc. Then there were books ... and antiques, and furniture, and knick-knacks, and sculptures, and jewelry, and tools, and vintage clothing, and utensils ... STUFF! ALL OVER THE PLACE! ALL SORTS OF THINGS! DIFFERENT SIZES; DIFFERENT COLORS; DIFFERENT GENRES ... photographs, yearbooks, comic books, sports equipment, appliances.
What did people do before eBay? |
|
Stay tuned for new listings, especially artwork. To add to the excitement, I will soon be moving, so I'll be listing MANY MORE items on eBay shortly.
The Magellan Roadmate 1200 GPS (listed on 10/01/08) was my very first eBay listing.
Now. months later, I find I can easily sell my own items, but the ARTWORK is another story. It is difficult to include mouth-watering descriptions and enticing photos of items with which one has little familiarity and no knowledge. When I was growing up I lived with these "objects d'art". Their history is solid as I remember when each item was added to my parent's collection. I know something about one artist who happened to be an uncle. As far as the rest, each and every item had to be researched on line, using the art services that charge for each search.
I've found basic information on all the art items. All the artists have histories that can be found on line, at the same art services I used to research each piece. If anyone has interest in art, including pictures (oils, watercolors, etchings, lithographs {signed limited ediations}, sculpture, ceramics {crystal including Lalique}, some prints {inexpensive copies of the real thing}, etc, contact me and I will send you a list of all the available items.
I can vouch for the source of each item, as my parents bought each piece either from an art gallery or from the artist. I still have receipts for many of the items. As for my uncle's work (Louis Ferstadt) he is more famous for illustrating the first comic books in the 1930's and 1940's than he is for painting World's Fair murals or other oil and watercolor paintings. Of course I have many of the latter and none of the former.
At some point I may start to list some of the artwork, but ask me for my list if you are interested in 20th century CONTEMPORARY ART - Artists such as Chagall {Signed Posters}, Dali {Lithograph}, Georges Binet {Oil}, Garrido {Oil}, Russo {Oil}, Hiller {Watercolor}, Filmus {Lithograph}, Benton {Lithograph}, ETC.
I also have many firearms and accessories to sell. EBay doesn't do firearms auctions but at some point I may list my reloading supplies and other pistol accessories. if you are interested in anything on any list I can always run a BIN "by appointment" so you know when the item will be listed. I prefer to go through eBay and Paypal as I have enough trouble keeping up with the normal course of events without trying out other methods. I find eBay and Paypal fees are reasonable when compared to auction houses and other storefront dealers and eBay/PayPal procedures protect both buyers and sellers.
YES, I SELL INTERNATIONALLY! If I don't yet know how to ship it, I will find out when I sell it! So far the biggest problem is printing labels from Paypal for items over $400 - and getting insurance. Maximum insurance for some countries is $650, but there are other available sources. These are some instances I learned of first hand. There are some size limitations as well but many of these items were shipped to America from Europe many years ago when forms of shipping were more limited than they are today. |
