How Project Angel Hugs Began In July of 1999, our then, 5 year old daughter, Vanessa was diagnosed with leukemia...ALL. Once cancer is attached to your child's name, your whole world turns upside down. The shock and pain are beyond compare with anything else you have ever experienced. You are tossed into a world of uncertainty. Rather than scheduling dance lessons, play dates, or soccer games, you are planning doctor appointments, bone marrow aspirates and spinal taps. Not to mention the chemo that accompanies all of this. The medicine that makes them so sick at times all you can do is pray. |

After a courageous battle, years of chemo, a bone marrow transplant, months in the hospital, Vanessa relapsed again in June of 2001, and passed on with grace and faith to her new life in heaven in August of the same year. She left us with some super huge shoes to fill along with a tremendous hole in our lives. It is for her that we started Project Angel Hugs and it is for all those children suffering from childhood cancer that we still continue it...even after my husband's passing in June of 2004. Though some can think of our story with sadness...I would like to say...please take away from this that we continue on with determination which can only be based in our hope, love and faith in God and His Son. All of Snugglefriends Auctions benefit Project Angel Hugs. The amount varies from 10% from final bid of my own personal items to 100% when the item has been donated to the Project, minus ebay/pay pal expenses. Just check the item description for the amount donated from a certain auction. Our Projects mission is to nurture local youth in a passion for Christ-centered service by aiding these children suffering with cancer along with their families. We do this by throwing parties at the local children's oncology floor, along with sending packages across country for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions to these children and families. The local teenagers do much of the preparation, organizing, and packing of all the items we need for the parties or ship to the families, along with helping out during the parties. Please check out our website by the link provided on this page for more information. Bid high and bid often...we see this as a benefit for many, local teenagers, our adult volunteers, the children suffering from cancer, along with their parents and siblings..plus YOU! Be An Angel...Touch A Heart! :) |
