About Me: spicerpro( 1524Feedback score is 1000 to 4,999) About Me

Spicer Pro, LLC is a video production company in Maryland. Video production and photography has been my love and career for over 40 years. I started out at an ABC television affiliate as a news cameraman in the 1960's and built my television production company in 1975. We have produced over 10,000 commercials and corporate videos...and we are still going strong.

My production company serves as a creative outlet for me and all those who share my passion. I would like to thank the hundreds of buyers who have purchased our programs and the kind comments they have left for us. Your support is greatly appreciated.

My love of technology began when I was three years old. I was fascinated with my father's wire recorder. He originally purchased it so he could exchange "wire letters" with his Dad. That was a clever way of getting around long distance charges since we lived in Maryland and my Grand Dad lived in New York.

In 1949 my late father took me to a small train station along the B&O main line in Baltimore. He set up his recorder and mic, and waited. In a short time, the warning bells started to clang at the grade crossing that laid just beyond the station. Then I heard the rapid chugging off in the distance soon to be followed by smoke billowing atop the trees. In mere seconds tons of black steel careened by, ground rumbling and cinders flying, stinging my little face. As quick as it came, it was gone. I recently transferred these vintage recordings onto a 72 minute audio CD to make them available worldwide. My Dad would be proud.

Steam Locomotives of the 40's and 50's

My father, Harold S. Spicer, was an award-winning photographer for the Baltimore News Post from 1939 to 1972. He was renowned for his action news photos, but his talents also extended into his personal love of steam locomotives.

Recently, I discovered dozens of 8x10 prints my dad photographed during the 40's and 50s. Part of my profession is photo restoration. I scanned every photo and restored them to their original beauty. I now offer these rare photos as high-resolution 8x10 glossy prints. Each one is museum quality and will enhance the collection of every train enthusiast. Below are just some of the photos available.

Basenjis are small, short-haired hunting dogs from Africa. Their most recognizable characteristic is their tightly curled tail. This is not a dog for everyone. Basenjis crave attention and do not like to be left alone. Patience, tolerance and a good sense of humor are requirements for Basenji owners.

My dog Lucy is a Basenji and I had great success in training her, despite the fact the breed is notorious for being very hard to train. For thousands of years, Basenjis have had to be independent thinkers. They will only obey humans if it does not in interfere with what they want. However, Lucy and I communicate very well and I attribute that to the training techniques I used.

Once again I combined my interests with my film making capabilities, and this informative video was created. It is not dry and dull, but a fun program. It includes a description of the breed and why Basenjis are hard to train. Lucy and I demonstrate her tricks and commands, and explain how each was accomplished. I discuss some wonderful pet products that make life with Lucy a delight. Demonstrations of housebreaking, walking and crate training are included.

Lucy is my shadow and the section on bonding is a touching peek into why she and I are so close. Consistency, routine, trust and patience contribute to successful training. This is a video for the entire family.

Aside from producing videos and commercials for our clients, we have also created products for sale on eBay, our own web site and other on-line venues. These include Backyard Railways, Train Sounds of the 40's & 50's, Lucy the Basenji, Ready Set Go Go Go and Vintage Train Photos.

Success in selling our own products has lead to our producing a video about the process of buying, selling and shipping titled eBay-Gaining the Edge. It is targeted to every eBay user who wishes to benefit from advanced tips and tricks. This 85-minute DVD looks at buying and selling from the perspective of psychology and offers step-by-step video tutorials for mastering the mechanics of the World's most popular auction site.

The intent was to produce an instructional DVD to fill a void were none others exists. The program took five months to write and produce, and is continually updated as eBay policy changes. It is well organized and explains the process in an entertaining way using animation, screen shots and live how-to segments. Each topic clearly explains eBay concepts and procedures.

eBay-Gaining the Edge is a program rich in content and you will want to keep it handy for future reference. To that end, 57 different topics can be quickly accessed from the index menu.

In addition to my video profession, I love to collect G-Scale trains. Combining my hobby and production capabilities resulted in the creation of two videos about G-Scale model trains. Our first video Riding Household Railways showcases five model railroads and is unique because it is shot from the viewpoint of person only three inches tall. Much of the video utilizes a "lipstick camera," a tiny broadcast quality camera that was placed in and on the trains. The result makes the G-scale layouts exceptionally lifelike.

Two of the featured railways are garden layouts, two are household and my favorite is the electric tramway. The latter was created just for this video including track, catenary wire, scenery and buildings. The entire set was 50 feet long. A night look was achieved with blue lighting and a fog machine. The lipstick camera was mounted in a variety of positions on the LGB tram cars as well as trackside. The result is absolutely magical. After seeing this segment a hundred times, I never tire of watching it.

G-Scale Journey is our second G-Scale video and places the trains in the real world. The intent was to film the trains running in natural environments. My favorite segment is the LGB New Orleans streetcar. Working trolley poles were added and the camera details how the trolley tracks under the overhead wire, around turns and through switch frogs. The final segment is titled "Bridge Out" and you can use your imagine as to the content of this climatic conclusion. You will not want to miss it.

Backyard Railways includes both of our G-Scale video titles combined onto a single DVD. This is 60 minutes of G-Scale model train fun appealing to both young and old alike. G-Scalers love the layouts and detail of the miniature environments. Parents report children are mesmerized, wanting to watch it over and over. In fact, we have programmed the DVD to loop endlessly so it does not have to be restarted. This is perfect for the backseat riders of your DVD player-equipped family mini van or SUV.

The program is an award-winning video shot in full broadcast quality. The video is entirely cut to music. This is a total visual experience and a good addition to every video collection.
