Sporting Goods USA

1975_s

In 1629, a shoemaker by the name of Thomas Beard, arrived in America on the second voyage of the Mayflower, opened a shop in which he could practice his trade, and sparked of our modern shoe industry. I'm proud to be a part of that industry. Since ancient times used shoes have retained their value, I sell used shoes and you will find that I only select the best shoes to sell. Many are department store returns with less than 100 yds walked in them and with no defects in them other than scuffed heels.

Sporting Goods USA consists of Tom King and 4 other individuals each in charge of different departments in this highly specialized micro business. We strive to bring you, our customer the best deals in high end used shoes, high-end luggage, and used sporting goods. Our pledge to you is to unconditionally guarantee everything we sell, and represent the item as stated. If an item does not meet your satisfaction for any reason, we take it back.

Sporting Goods USA started as a business in January of 2002. Outgrowing my home in 2003, I have added four employees. They are my shipping manager and daytime correspondent, Kent, my shoe photographer and copywriter, Lynn, my everyman, Alex, and my organizer, JC.
Each of us checks your item before it is shipped to you. We are quite careful, but occasionally opinions can vary. Thus, our guarantee.

We strive to bring you excellent products at reasonable prices. Our pledge to you is, f you are not satisfied for any reason, we take it back. No questions asked. This rarely happens, but we stand 100% behind our products. We ship quickly (often same day). We communicate with you, our valued customer.

I originally purchased the inventory of a used sporting goods store. I don think any of that inventory is left. We buy stock from rental inventories, ski swaps, department stores, and luggage companies. We have loyal sources which we have worked hard to build over the years.

We plan on continuing to provide you the highest quality merchandise at the most reasonable price, and add product lines that will be of great value to you.

You should purchase from my store for the reasons above. You will be quite satisfied, I guarantee it.

Some of the shoe lines we feature include Ferragamo, Camper, Merrel, Dansko, Bally, Allen Edmonds, Johnston & Murphy, Aquatalia, Keen, Ariat, Chaco, Teva, Sorel, Kamik, Puma, Bastad, Cole Haan, Bruno Magli, SAS, Aldo, Mephisto, Ecco, Clarks, HS Trask, Munro, Pliner, Paul Green, Prada, Church's, Gucci, etc. Our luggage features TUMI, Andiamo, Briggs & Riley, Hartmann, TravelPro, and more normal offerings from Jansport, LL Bean, Lands' End, REI, among others. Purses from Hobo International, Coach, Perlina NY, Tignanello, Brahmin, etc.

We specialize in equipment intensive sports like skiing (XC and downhill), snowboarding, ice and roller hockey, golf, lacrosse, water skiing, baseball/softball.

Shoe sizes according to manufacturers are quite different. We measure them to assure accuracy. I receive many questions regarding sizing for shoes. The chart below is quite accurate, but the bottom-line is centimeters on the insole. The general rule of thumb to convert US sizes to EUR sizes for women is 31 + The us size. If you wear an 8, 31 + 8 = 39. That does not work across all brands. For men it is 34 + US size = EUR. Close but not exact. Here is a chart to guide you:

I understand that it sounds risky to buy a pair of ski, snowboard or cross country boots off the internet. However, it really isn't. We sell thousands of pairs a year and rarely have problems with sizing (we guarantee fit, too).

The confusing term "mondo-sizing" is the culprit. "Mondo-sizing" is actually the insole length in centimeters. No, you do not buy ski boots a half size larger or smaller than your street shoes. You buy them the same size. Ski socks are now made of high-tech materials, and are much thinner than they used to be. The boots are much better insulated. Here is a chart to show which size you should buy and why:

All shoes fit the same when measured in inches on the insole. European sizes vary a great deal between Italy, Germany and France. Take a Prada, Ferragamo, Dansko, Birkenstock or Finn Comfort shoe. They will all have different EUR sizes, but the insole measurement in centimeters will provide the true measurement. The basic rule of 31+ US womens size=EUR size is not entirely correct (34 + US men's). It mostly works for the middle of the bell curve.

It is interesting writing a guide. Most neophytes or newbies are scared of it. I don't know why? Simply settle into your comfort zone (your product which you know better than anyone) and describe it accurately. Write about the attributes. Don't ignore the problems. Voila, you have written a guide that will be read, enjoyed, and place you higher in the search engines including Google

There's nothing like stepping out in a squeaky clean pair of shoes and making a great first impression both at the office and after hours. Call it superficial if you like, but the reality is that shoes are one of the first things people notice when meeting you for the first time -- and trust me, you will be judged on your shoes. Do you want people to think you're sloppy, unprofessional or even careless? I didn't think so. That said, take the extra time to make sure your shoes look clean and properly shined at all times.

Luggage 101 Ironing out the meanings of those pesky bag names!

Carry-on - Can be various bags in various shapes and sizes, all of which are intended to be carried onto an airplane and measure small enough to fit under the seat or in the overhead bin.

Cosmetic Case or Vanity - Small case with a mirror and compartments to hold cosmetics. It usually has a spill-resistant interior. Composed of hard or soft sides. Often an "essentials bag" can double as a cosmetic case.

Garment Bag - Soft vertical bag with interior bar and hangers for garments and outside pockets for other apparel. Can be folded in half or thirds, lengthwise and fastened.

Overnight Bag - Traditionally a small rectangular suitcase, it's now any piece of luggage large enough to carry apparel and necessities for an overnight stay. A "shoulder tote" is typically just the right size!

Suiter - Today, this term usually refers to a built-in compartment in another bag, such as an upright, that holds two to four suits. It has hangers and suit-folding frames

The length of Shoe Laces can vary for different type of shoes. The charts below are intented to be a "Guideline only" for standard shoes. If you are replacing laces, try to measure the old laces as a reference.

Winter boots run a little large to accomodate thick socks. Most manufacturers only produce them in whole sizes. My recommendation is to round up to the next higher size.
