I live in a picturesque and quiet village in Kent. I originate from a small village in Cardiganshire, Tal-y-Bont, and still have relatives living nearby in Borth, and being Welsh played rugby for years. During my lifetime I have lived in Wales, Germany, Scotland, London and Kent. For nearly 23 years I was a Police Officer in London, 21 years of which was served as a Detective. Unfortunately due to a fracture in my spine I was retired early. Being a person who can become bored easily, and after becoming divorced, I sought another form of employment and for nine years ran a public house in Maidstone, Kent. Not a bad job as I'm a Real Ale Nut! In February 2006 I decided to retire.
How do you turn History into a Profitable Pastime? Easy, sell guide books and postcards on eBay. Every item I sell, be they Church or other types of guides, postcards, theatre or football programmes, ephemera etc. have a history. This can be the items themselves, or the place, theatre show, football match or the document. All are interesting to read and research. I have learned more about churches, places and other things in the last six months that I believe I did in the previous 30 years.
You will discover if you look at my Auction and Shop items that they are more detailed that the vast majority of what you see advertised on eBay. The research takes time but in the end I find it worth it for the wealth of information learned, some of this this being passed onto the prosepective buyer.
When I sell items, unless I have problems, I endeavour to post by First Class post, unless otherwise stated, the same day as payment is received, or at the latest the following morning, except for Saturdays and Bank Holidays when a delay of up to 48 hours will occur. I also ensure that all items are packed carefully and safely, especially in the case of postcards and the various guides. Perusal of my Feedback shows this very well.
I try and describe the items I sell as accurately as possible. I've been very disappointed myself with some of the things that I've bought on eBay, not at all similar to what was described. I endeavour to make sure that nobody else suffers the same disappointment. My eBay Shop is growing by the day, normally with over 6,000 items for sale. The number of buyers visiting it regularly is also increasing. Please give it a try sometime.
I heavily discount on Postage and Packing costs, normally discounting 57p of the 60p charge for the second and subsequent postcards that you purchase from me. Buyers who spend over £14.00 on postcards receive their purchases FREE of all postage costs no matter where in the world they are posted to. All of the discounting is done automatically by eBay on my behalf, just go to Pay and all of your purchases will be shown on one invoice and the postage cost discount already applied. This only applies if all items are paid for together.
If you have purchased from me in the past, I thank you. If you intend to purchase in the future, I sincerely hope I can list something that will please you.
My eBay business operates from Staplehurst Collectables, 6 Pankhurst House, Market Place, Staplehurst, Kent, TN12 0QU. Visitors strictly by appointment only. Contact can be made by e-mail at staplehurst.resident@btinternet.com.
