My socks are called Sassy Socks. Sassy is my red (with lots of gray these days we call frosting), smooth-haired, 14 year old dachshund (SASSAFRAS LOUISE) who has survived paw cancer twice (along with radiation), Cushing's Disease, bladder stones, spleen removal, the dreaded doxie back surgery (she walked just 10 days later on her own - it was a true miracle), recently had an adrenal tumor removed in chest that had attached to her heart which caused her blood pressure to spike to 300 at times - we had to get it lowered before surgery (thanks for the amazing vets at OVRS she made it through that surgery), and in 9/08 had her left front leg amputated due to paw cancer - she can walk after 2 weeks and is doing great - and is the nicest dog anyone could imagine. She works right along beside me on ebay! My parents own her twin sister, Brandy Baby!

CLOSE TO MY HEART

Stopping domestic violence is close to my heart. I never thought it could happen to me - and I hear that story way too often. I was married for 23 years to a Methodist minister. After putting him through college, seminary, and going to three different churches with him and playing the nice minister's wife, he became very abusive both verbally and physically in the last couple years of our marriage. After a concussion, among other horrors, I got out - fortunately alive. I never thought I would be in that situation (nor does anyone else) and it takes more strength than one could ever imagine having to get out, divorce the creep, survive and then get on with your life and be happy. No one deserves to be treated that way, put up with abuse, or have someone bash down their life, confidence, and take away their friends. Once you get to the other side and have healed - you can see it for what it was - the abuser is just an insecure bully. But while you are going through the nightmare, there is nothing scarier than the person who is supposed to love you won't stop hurting you.

The struggle to end violence on this planet is a battle. Emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical. It requires every bit of our strength, our courage, our fierceness. It means speaking out when everyone says to be quiet. It means going the distance to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. It means honoring the truth even if it means losing family, country, and friends. It means developing the spiritual muscle to enter and survive the grief that violence brings and, in that dangerous space of stunned unknowing, inviting the deeper wisdom.

I am now living a fairytale life with the kindest, most loving prince - my husband of 7 years (9/22/01) - Rod:) My son, Billee, just graduated from grad school with a masters in statistics and lives close by. He is engaged to the wonderful Princess Haley. He is a constant source of love and laughter in our lives and having him 25 years ago was THE BEST thing I ever did!

I've been a legal secretary, church secretary, business owner, own a patent on the first beanie baby tag protector, got that medical transcription degree (I type 150 WPM and love to type) - but just couldn't leave ebay - it's too fun! So I sell on ebay full time as a power seller and love it. I've met some of the nicest and best people! And if you've taken the time to read this - you're no doubt one of them!
